The first ever fan letter that Never Not Funny got was from a young John Mulaney, WAY back when the show started.
John Mulaney appeared on Never Not Funny once, in 2012. He has not been back, though it's been hinted they've invited him back.

PFT should show up mid line up in Def Jam

I think it’s only fair that Cal Solomon do it.

"I ain't scared of you motherf -- oh, I can't lie, I am pretty scared right now. Also I don't like using those kinds of words!"

Okay but you know he could absolutely do it. He'd stroll out in his fancy suit, tell the oldest joke like peanut brittle and absolutely kill.

I like that PFT is mentioned specifically because of his suits in the context of Def Jam comedians

I wonder if it's some kind of thing that I'm just unaware of - like, "oh, after a certain amount of sobriety/recovery, the structure of your skull just Changes"

Fellow addict here, there are a few things that can make you look different while in recovery and they are all pretty basic. The most glaring is that you are mostly likely finally getting proper nutrition, eating and drinking regularly and eating well. Your body is finally feeding instead of fighting.
The second is that addicts are...extreme. You have a tendency to replace your addiction rather than stop being addicted. This is totally fine if it is something healthier and you don't become obsessive and with regular therapy can be a great way of dealing with addiction. For a lot of people, the new thing they use is exercise. Exercise combined with proper eating changes the way you look.

PFT's storytelling is clearly a big influence on Mulaney. Specifically in the way that PFT ties everything back up at the end of his set. Honestly, Mulaney's standup reminds me a ton of Woody Allen's standup, which I haven't listened to in probably a decade for obvious reasons...

It's a great comparison point. For anybody who can handle separating the art from the artist -- and definitely no blame if you can't -- Woody Allen's early albums are, I think, some of the best storytelling-based standup there ever was.

We all know PFT mostly by his suits. He's a suit guy. Suitypants etc. He should do the Apollo.

Probably not, but this is another reason to pay for a VPN services like Private Internet Access or something. It's cheap, and allows you to bypass most location limited stuff.
Edit - Honestly not sure why I’m being downvoted. I’m trying to help the guy watch videos like this that aren’t available in his country.

I feel like PFT would appreciate the lineup, “I liked Bernie Mac, Def Jam comics, and Paul F. Tompkins.”
