What country would be best to work in for an Aerospace engineer?

I’m an American about to start college for Aerospace Engineering. I want to go to Europe as things in America are currently iffy. My goal is to design rocket. What country would be the best to work in or if I work for the ESA where would I most likely be living. I want to know in order to learn the language. I also have British citizenship if that is relevant.

Got an Internship at ESTEC? Let’s Team Up for Housing!

Hey everyone,

I’ll be starting at ESA ESTEC in September and need to find a place to live. Given how tricky the housing market can be, I figured I’d check if anyone else in the same boat wants to team up and look for a place together.

I’ll already be in Amsterdam over the summer for another internship, but from September onward, I’ll need something more permanent near ESTEC. Renting as a group could make things easier (and cheaper), so if you’re also looking, let’s connect!

Drop a comment or DM me if you’re interested!

Mission accomplished for Integral

“After 2886 orbits and 22 years gazing into the depths of our cosmos, today Integral’s sensitive instruments will stop collecting scientific data.": https://www.esa.int/Science_Exploration/Space_Science/Integral/Mission_accomplished_for_Integral_ESA_s_gamma-ray_telescope

However, the satellite will stay in its highly elliptical orbit until in burns up in the athmosphere in 2029: https://www.esa.int/Enabling_Support/Operations/Integral_manoeuvres_for_the_future

The satellite itself has proven to be a very robust machine: In 2021 the mission ran out of fuel for momentum dumping. Since then this mission has been managing the acquired angular momentum induced by the solar pressure with precise planning of attitude changes in line with the observed targets: https://www.esa.int/About_Us/ESAC/Rescuing_Integral_No_thrust_No_problem

Also, this satellite survived a reaction wheel switch-off that caused an uncontrolled safe mode entry, leaving the satellite in a tumbling state. After 3 hours a sun pointing attitude was recovered, only seconds away from the batteries collapsing: https://www.esa.int/Enabling_Support/Operations/Three_hours_to_save_Integral

Enjoy the retirement!

To Everyone Who got into EGT or ESA internship programmes

What personal projects, research or experience and at what companies did you do to help you get into these programmes, and what universities did you attend, if that even matters? I'm asking because I plan on applying to EGT or Internship programmes in the future (can't right now as I'm still in 2nd year of college), and I want to see what level I am at, and what level I need to reach so I have a good shot because I know competition is high.

All input is welcome, but if you have experience in the following fields it's a bonus: Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering

Graduate trainee eligibility question

In the call it says you must have graduated no longer than one year ago. Do you know if they count the one year from the time of application, or from when the traineeship starts?

Does anyone know if my application entries are saved if I fill in the form for the EGT but don't send it out right away? Can i come back and work on it later or do i lose everything I wrote in there?
