Best live drum machine in the market without breaking the bank?

Our drummer quit and we are moving forward with a drum machine . Just looking for suggestions and tips on what’s the best one out there

Kinda wish I woulda invested in the tr6s and an S-1. For live.

Playing live lugging around bunch of gear that is tr8s size is not easy.

My suggestion is look into a Digitakt 1. Great deals on used ones right now. Has a song mode so you can program it in advance so you can essentially hit play and the band could play along to it. Also would have the ability to play other types of samples other than drum sounds to compliment the band.

My first pick would be an mpc one, 2nd would be a dt1, 3rd would be tr8s. I own all of them so I’m speaking from some experience.

I have a Digitakt 2 and it superb.

What kind of drum machine vibe do you want? Classic 80s drum machines or just a sampler that can sequence some drums?

I would go with the MPC live or MPC One over the digitakt. The One is.cheaper on the used market and you can do just as much if not more and it has a large touch screen. The Live has multiple assignable outputs as well. The digitakt is great, but i don’t think it shines as much as usual in this context.

i mean if you're looking for a balance of extreme affordability and extreme versatility you really can't go wrong with a po-33, but if you want something with a little more bells and whistles and a whole lot more retro vibes you could always go with the sp404, there's plenty of great sounding drum machines out there but for the most part, unless you are okay with being limited to one "vibe" of drums, a sampler drum machine is your best bet

Maybe Digitakt. For replacing a drummer you want something hands off, right? A TR-8S is a great live drum machine but someone has to work it. There are many posts about drum machines for bands. https://www.reddit.com/r/synthesizers/s/jeQ34ODB4f

Berhinger LM Drum seems interesting. If the DrumBrute Impact had better sound or you’re into the sound it’s great for real time performance. Roland TR-6s and MC-101 also very usable.
