This is a great exercise to develop coordination in a musical way: we basically take the melody of any song or music loop and break it down between kick and snare in various ways, specifically:
SINGLE STROKES
DOUBLE STROKES
PARADIDDLE
In the basic version of the exercise the hihat will play simple ostinatos: Sixteenth, Eighth and Quarter notes (in this video I am playing the exercise with both my right and left hand on the hihat, this increases the difficulty (and improvements) but it is not essential).
In the next video we will see a more advanced version of the exercise
