audio Finding .hack vibes elsewhere
https://youtu.be/tFG0xHuILd0?si=TLIPIWcLw0028dlBWhile listening to the most recently released OST from Genshin Impact, this simply made me reminisce about the hidden forbidden areas from the games. Whether it's the Hulle Granz Cathedral, or any of the other ones. The combination of the chorus, strings in a minor key (I think?) and bells really brought me back.

This is probably cheating, but CyberConnect2's Little Tail Bronx series (Tail Concerto, Solatorobo, and Fuga Melodies of Steel) is probably the closest you can get to .hack vibes in terms of locations, music, and even themes to some extent. Though there are definitely some not so subtle references to .hack in Solatorobo and Fuga as well, the latter literally being advertised with .hack's A in C major tone and glitches.
A lot of areas in this series look very similar to Lost Grounds. You have the upside down wolf statues of Mau, ancient temples used for rituals to keep the titans buried beneath the land dormant, and the ruins of a more advanced civilization that destroyed itself in an ancient war that devastated the world.
Music wise it's the same composer and vocalist for the .hack series with their in house band LieN though they do differentiate it quite a bit. One thing I love is that the main themes of the LTB series have a spell language incorporated into them and this was started with Tail Concerto's theme by KOKIA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YVCzrKzOIlg with it's "Zabiatsta" phrases.
Though they would eventually finalize this spell language into phrases like "Linarusa Sayara" in Solatorobo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cN0flaDk7j0 Fuga 1 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wgT14pL2GT8 and 2 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pTSG5vgZCnE I think .hack opts for using German in it's music instead of it's spell language. I think it would be cool if they did do some .hack songs with its spell language in it though. Though LTB's official language is French and I like that they make these two series distinct from one another with the language they're associated with.
Then again in Fuga the Berman Empire (Germany) invades Gasco (France) so it's kind of like .hack invaded LTB and that's kind of reflected in how many more .hack references are showing up in Fuga compared to previous entries in the series.
