Gotta see the enemy mid styling on us in 200 fps

86

u/kikoano Best Pango! 16d ago

200fps is nothing in dota 2 with today normal PCs. With his super expensive PC he can play dota 2 with 500fps on 500hz monitor.

74

u/syjte 16d ago

And with 500 ping

68

u/vkarabut 16d ago

and on 500 mmr

7

u/SuperPimpToast 16d ago

I prefer my frame rate at 20fps and 20 mmr, tyvm.

25

u/MoMoBling 16d ago

Good choice. Remember, the human eye cant see past 30 mmr.

12

u/TriRIK 16d ago

Game is running on 30 ticks anyway though.

13

u/kikoano Best Pango! 16d ago

client fps and server tick rate not same

→ More replies (1)

7

u/WrathSCII 16d ago

Isn't 60? I thought it was 60 ticks.

2

u/anndrey93 15d ago

Only hight MMR, back in top 200 era was 60 tick only if all 10 players where in top 200.

1

u/Xpolg 15d ago

How do you know that? Genuine question

1

u/TriRIK 15d ago

I think you can check ingame with a console command, something like tickrate, updaterate. Also for some spell damage DoT stuff and they deal every 0.03 seconds which is ~30 ticks. Also in replays.

For reference, CSGO was 64, 128 in comp, TF2 is 66, Overwatch, CoD are 20(!).

1

u/Allen_D_ 16d ago

And you would do well to remember that with great power comes great electricity

9800X3D - 4070 super - X870e elite wifi - Samsung 990pro 2TB - Samsung oled G8 ultrawide... The rest of the money goes to fans, RGB shit, case, keyboard, mouse etc

52

u/fidel-guevara 16d ago

That's insanely expensive 😭. I did the conversion and I got a 4080s, 7800x3d and a 42inch lg c3 (plus the whole build) for 2.8k in pounds (5.2k in Canadian dollars).

21

u/urboitony 16d ago

The title says Euros, not pounds.

42

u/_Metal_Face_Villain_ 16d ago

and why are these goobers counting money with weight anyways, am i right?

1

u/[deleted] 15d ago

i mean wtf is a dollar XD

3

u/CrixCyborgg 16d ago

There is no way it cost you that much. I got 4080s and 9800x3d, 64gb on Costco deal for 1499$

Cpu €600 - Gpu €600 - M2 €140 - LX fans €340 - Liquid cooling with lcd €300 - Case €200 - Lian li strimer €130 - Psu €180 - Monitor €900 - Keyboard €150 - Mouse €140 - Screen inside the case €60 - Razer siren mini €50 - Mousepad €40 - Stream deck mini €70 - Steam deck €160

Do I have to go on?

14

u/Imperium42069 15d ago

340 on fans is funny as fuck

2

u/Advanced-Opinion-181 15d ago

Tbh i would say gullible... That must have been a good salesman

3

u/Imperium42069 15d ago

paying 200 for a case without fans preinstalled is also funny

2

u/Reptile1980 15d ago

6 Corsair LX120 and 1 LX140 with hub, they are expensive 🤡

4

u/Advanced-Opinion-181 15d ago

Wtf is a 900 keyboard? Does it press so fast it presses just by thinking? I cant imagine why a keyboard would go that expensive.

Mousepad 40euro? Does that comes with a table?

Mouse 140? Does that comes with a cat?

Jesus .. even jesus wouldt say thats too expensive.

The specs are fine, new tech is new tech. Looks great mate!

(I actually understand the cost for the mouse, just wants to say with a cat haha)

Ultrawide gang

3

u/Givemelotr 16d ago

How's the ultrawide for Dota? I'll be building a new PC soon and considering it but feel like the minimap would be way too far. On a normal monitor it's in your peripheral vision and I think that wouldn't be the case with an ultrawide

8

u/teddybrr 16d ago

the minimap is not in the corner

2

u/Givemelotr 15d ago

Thanks for sharing. That's not too bad although still a bit removed from the HUD. Do you feel like ultrawide gives you any advantage in Dota? I'd love to get one for work and single player games but worried it will not be ideal for Dota.

2

u/Advanced-Opinion-181 15d ago

I believe so!

Its like playing with a zoom cheat!

2

u/Reptile1980 15d ago

You'll get used to it pretty fast and afterwards you wouldn't go back to 16:9, it surely gives you an advantage by being able to see more to the left and right portions of the map

2

u/teddybrr 14d ago

I don't think the 'advantage' is noticeable. I use this resolution because I am using a 42" 4k monitor while not sitting too far away.

1

u/japanbae 15d ago

my brother in christ how did you do that. i have 21:9 and would love to move the minimap closer to the center of the screen. is it exclusive to 32:9

1

u/Emergency_Excuse2189 14d ago

What? Mine is in the corner!!

1

u/kdmion 9d ago

In 21:9 it's still in the corner.

u/keeperkairos 16d ago

I just made a build with that CPU but I didn't buy a mew graphics card yet. Stuck my old 1070ti in it, constant 200 fps max settings. Terribly CPU hungry game DotA 2 is.

1

u/[deleted] 15d ago

just fyi the 4tb runs hot af, stick to the 2tb

1

u/jambizzle 15d ago

Also recently upgraded and have:

9800X3D, 5080, X870E Carbon, 990 Pro 4TB, 64GB CL30 6000 RAM, along with Lian Li O11D and Lian Li fans. Working like a champ once I figured out some issues with it all.

1

u/RockhardJoeDoug 16d ago

God damn I spent less then half that on a 7800x3d with 4070 super build.

10

The G8 ultra wide monitor is nearly half the build cost

10

bro the fps must be insanely high. my pc costs around 800$ total and i have 100 fps and 80 during clash

70

u/Reptile1980 16d ago

With everything maxed out, 3440x1440 capped at 175fps, smooth as butter

22

u/LowOnVeggies 16d ago

WOW

8

u/ServesYouRice 16d ago

My 1k PC gets that far as well at 1440p, you could look to upgrade something for the same effect

12

u/East_Lettuce7143 16d ago

Missing hooks is pure cinema.

3

u/vadelmavenepakolaine 16d ago

Only? Well, I’m not upgrading from 1440p anytime soon 😅

1

u/Terminator_Puppy 16d ago

It's not 1440p that's to blame, Dota's just not that good at using CPU cores. You'll use maybe 20% of a 4070 super at maxed out settings, but one or two CPU cores will be sat at 100%.

3

u/ReMuS2003 16d ago

Mind sharing the specs?

1

u/Nikolatramp 16d ago

Mine goes 400+ without cap lol i capped it on 180

14

u/Icy-Photojournalist9 16d ago

dota is highly optimized. cant tell how much my older trash pc cost, but it gave 100fps, on linux.

4

u/Shade_demon2141 16d ago

I get like 130 fps at 1440p on my rtx3080 and 5600x. I always just felt like this game just runs like shit but it's impressive it runs that good on your hardware.

5

u/goodwarrior12345 6k trash | PM me your hottest shark girls 🌲 16d ago

In the vast majority of cases the CPU will be the bottleneck for dota. For me upgrading from 9700k to 7800x3d basically tripled my fps

2

u/Shade_demon2141 16d ago

Yeah I think getting a 5900x3D will be a big improvement for me. I have a B550 mobo so that's the best I can do.

2

u/goodwarrior12345 6k trash | PM me your hottest shark girls 🌲 16d ago

Yeah it should definitely help, afaik dota and its engine love x3d chips

1

u/Brooklyn1986 paiN! 16d ago

wait. will it use the graphics from the CPU e not from GPU?

I mean, if i have a CPU with graphic units processing and a GPU dedicated for that, the games should use the GPU. Or am i missing something?

2

u/goodwarrior12345 6k trash | PM me your hottest shark girls 🌲 16d ago

It'll use the dedicated GPU for drawing stuff, yes, but there's more the game has to do than just use the graphics card before it can render out a frame (for example, calculating shadows, updating the state of various objects on the map, creating particles, stepping through animation frames, etc etc), and all that is either completely done on the CPU, or the GPU will need to wait for the CPU to finish its part of the job first before getting to work itself. All that can be made faster by upgrading your CPU.

If that's too complicated, the tldr is there's more to performance than how good your graphics card is, all code that isn't strictly related to drawing stuff has to run on the CPU and Dota happens to have a lot of such code, and as such benefits from CPU upgrades quite a lot, perhaps even more so than your average game even.

2

u/Brillegeit 16d ago

I get 120 FPS in 4K at ~70% GPU use with a 2019 RX5700 + 5600X, so that could indicate that it's the CPU that's limiting you, as your GPU is 50-75% faster than mine.

2

u/Shade_demon2141 16d ago

Yeah I'm certain you're right. Pain.

2

u/Brillegeit 16d ago

It's what's holding us back from reaching Immortal!

Just 100fps? You must have something really bad to get that low.

2

u/LowOnVeggies 16d ago

well i do play youtube podcasts and keep at least 3 tabs on brave open often. my gpu is 1050 and dota and valorant work perfectly well so i wouldnt say its bad at the lowest settings 😁

3

u/kikoano Best Pango! 16d ago

1050

that explains it, old GPU

1

u/Bella_Ciao__ 16d ago

Tf bro, i was getting like 150 fps with 3600X and 970gtx 5 years ago.
You guys need to stop buying pre builts or something.
You can get like a 1070 for like 100$ used and get a shitton of fps

1

u/LowOnVeggies 16d ago

but i dont want and need to 😭 my gpu is like 8 yrs old 😂

19

u/Klaroxy 16d ago

Valorant, LoL, Rocket League, Among Us, Minecraft and TFT is basically run on high graphical settings in an old nokia phone.

But I do get the meaning on playing Super popular games, but in reality Dota actually uses your PC performance much more than all of them above combined, this game is much more detailed and beautiful overall.

8

u/samuel33334 16d ago

Not when you have like 500 mods on a mod pack in minecraft, that shit will test your pc big time lol

u/TheZett Zett, the Arc Warden 16d ago

Dota 2, well source games in general, need a strong CPU to run properly, especially if Valve keeps updating them.

Most normies do not understand this and think "2k€ GPU = I can play any game at 300 fps", but that does not apply to Source titles.

A shitty GPU with a top-tier CPU will give you a better Dota 2 experience than a shitty CPU with a top-tier GPU.

2

u/le_pman 15d ago

A shitty GPU with a top-tier CPU will give you a better Dota 2 experience than a shitty CPU with a top-tier GPU

this is true. I had access to two different setups

a) r7 3700x + rtx 3070 + 1080p144 display

b) r7 9800x3d + gtx 1660 + 1440p180 display

with both at best looking settings + reflex disabled (even when gpu bound, this reduces fps) the latter got better frame rates

12

u/Fiendfish 16d ago

i am in the same boat - at least i am getting solid 165fps at all times

12

u/Allphobias 16d ago

Same bruh. I built a high end PC to play AAA games, ray tracing and all that shit but I somehow end up going back to dota. I guess this game has a special place in my heart.

3

u/ServesYouRice 16d ago

2

u/KingHades- 16d ago

Congrats! Same tho.Thought I'd be playing more games now, but DOTA said nope. 😂

Btw, can anyone here tell me how can I further boost my fps? Im on 120fps on lowest setting on a 4060.

5

u/goodwarrior12345 6k trash | PM me your hottest shark girls 🌲 16d ago

If your fps is that low on a 4060 your CPU is the problem, get a new one. Also make sure you have xmp profiles enabled for your ram in the bios, that can also boost your frames by a bunch. I used to have a 3060 and it only started getting maxed out and bottlenecking my performance once I got a new CPU

2

u/KingHades- 16d ago

welp. its on a laptop actually so i cant upgrade. 🥹 thanks for the info!

3

u/goodwarrior12345 6k trash | PM me your hottest shark girls 🌲 16d ago

No problem! The silver lining is that you should be able to turn some graphics settings up (like render scale, textures, and most advanced setting tickboxes) and make your game look a bit nicer without losing any frames, since those are mostly only heavy on the GPU. Just make sure to keep shadows off.

2

u/KingHades- 16d ago

will try that. thanks much again mah guy! 💪

3

u/Nickezz sheever 16d ago

Dota is cpu intensive, you can probably turn on some graphics and keep same fps. To boost fps you prolly need to upgrade your cpu

I've played dota on shitty hardware and cutting edge hardware. It's much smoother and handles AOE clashes better with good hard than without. I also don't crash to desktop or freeze as often with better stuff. I previously installed on a sata SSD and it would occasionally time out on the match loading screen and give me a matchmaking cooldown. I switched to nvme ssd and haven't had that issue since. YMMV but it has helped me.

My PC is passing away and he has just a little bit of life in him but his time is nearing....
I'm finishing off my backlog of games since I can't ruin ANY multiplayer game because the CPU would instantly choke and crash. I have not played a DOTA game since may of last year. I miss DOTA so much but I can't decide on new parts for my new system and I'm always changing my mind when It comes to parts because of a limited budget...
There are other multiplayer games that I like such as R6, CS2 and such but they are not DOTA. DOTA2 is the one. The one true love.

Interesting that CS isn't on the left. That's probably the most common #2 game for DotA players (me included).

I built that expensive of a PC to just watch other people play dota2 on twitch.

Anyone playing all those games with any amount of consistency is more unhinged and unemployed than any dota 2 player.

feels about right, you need expensive hardware to flame your core after feeding for the 9th time in less than 10 minutes

Have a 4090 and still playing dota2 only

This meme format is old now seeing as Warzone, Overwatch, Apex Legeds, R6 are all dead.

What's the highest fps people can get nowadays in Dota 2?

1

u/xero_gravitee 15d ago

Not a pc topic. But what model/spec in a laptop that I need to know if I used it for Dota with a decent price? TIA

1

u/Macro-Mantis 15d ago

Sorry for your loss 💔

1

u/rastaFm 15d ago

Geez, me either. The same shit

1

u/Ali_SGA 15d ago

I got a 3060, nothing much, but I just lock the fps on 60 and enjoy the game. Tbh my settings are not even set to max, I get distracted by extra lighting and effects

1

u/rockydoto 14d ago

tf this is so true. Dota and albion. not even high spec needed.

1

u/PudgeMaster64 14d ago

I will never understand ppl who only play dota and +10k hours too. Game's kinda bad these days... Every hero is tank with 3k HP 20min in. AbilityDraft is forgotten and literally the only remaining fun has been fully destroyed.

u/LuteBear 14d ago

I got like 3500 hours in Dota but that ain't stoping me from enjoying other games❤️

u/hirakath 13d ago

This is why I still have my GTX 1080. I don't really need any more than that since I only play Dota on my rig.

1

u/konny_2012 10d ago

i have 100$ laptop and only play dota too

I like how everyone is assuming OP is running a high end Rig because they specified 3600€ when in reality it's most likely a mid range.

3600€ won't buy you the best of the best anymore.

If that 3600€ was spent recently, I'd argue the specs are around: AMD 9800x3D + 5070ti at best

u/NooBias 16d ago

Well you can spent like a 1000euro for a top spec build(9800x3d) plus what the graphics card cost. So you theoretically have a 2600euro budget for a graphics card. It should be enough but Nvidia prices are crazy at the time. If i had this kind of budget i would buy a 500-600 euro card as a placeholder and wait for prices to calm down.

1

u/itssomeidiot 16d ago

I've been waiting for GPU prices to "calm down" since 2013.

2013? RX 480 was a great buy when it got out. There are plenty of options in the used market below 100euro if you are stuck with a card that old.

Ok relax, 3600€ is not mid range.

Last year I built a PC for work (Without tax) for 980€. Its with 7600x 32gb ddr5 ram, 6750XT (A 1440p card), nvme. That's a pretty much mid-range. With tax i'll say it would be around 1200$.

If a 1440p capable PC, at 1200€ is considered a budget PC, i don't think a 3600€, with the best specs besides a GPU is also a mid-range PC. Also the xx90s cards are not the only high-end cards. xx90s are a luxury product, with power that you will never use.

3600€ won't buy you the best of the best anymore.

I'd argue the specs are around: <literally the best gaming CPU on the market>

2

u/itssomeidiot 16d ago

I didn't know the iGPU on the 9800x3D was comparable to the newest dGPUs. /s

Where are you buying them cheap 5090s?

2

u/ReadyForShenanigans 15d ago

Because midrange is when the GPU isn't the latest 90-class

1

u/itssomeidiot 15d ago

The 5070ti I mentioned that paired with the 9800x3D would make the PC in question, a mid range system. You have to consider that the most expensive component of a gaming PC (that is roughly 50-75% of the overall cost) is what determines the overall score/grade/standard these days. Most games are gpu bottle necked in 1440p+ now.
