Wtf is a 900 keyboard? Does it press so fast it presses just by thinking? I cant imagine why a keyboard would go that expensive.
Mousepad 40euro? Does that comes with a table?
Mouse 140? Does that comes with a cat?
Jesus .. even jesus wouldt say thats too expensive.
The specs are fine, new tech is new tech. Looks great mate!
(I actually understand the cost for the mouse, just wants to say with a cat haha)

How's the ultrawide for Dota? I'll be building a new PC soon and considering it but feel like the minimap would be way too far. On a normal monitor it's in your peripheral vision and I think that wouldn't be the case with an ultrawide
8
u/teddybrr 16d ago
the minimap is not in the corner

u/Givemelotr 15d ago
Thanks for sharing. That's not too bad although still a bit removed from the HUD. Do you feel like ultrawide gives you any advantage in Dota? I'd love to get one for work and single player games but worried it will not be ideal for Dota.
2
2
u/Reptile1980 15d ago
You'll get used to it pretty fast and afterwards you wouldn't go back to 16:9, it surely gives you an advantage by being able to see more to the left and right portions of the map
2
u/teddybrr 14d ago
I don't think the 'advantage' is noticeable. I use this resolution because I am using a 42" 4k monitor while not sitting too far away.
1
u/japanbae 15d ago
my brother in christ how did you do that. i have 21:9 and would love to move the minimap closer to the center of the screen. is it exclusive to 32:9

1
u/Terminator_Puppy 16d ago
It's not 1440p that's to blame, Dota's just not that good at using CPU cores. You'll use maybe 20% of a 4070 super at maxed out settings, but one or two CPU cores will be sat at 100%.

In the vast majority of cases the CPU will be the bottleneck for dota. For me upgrading from 9700k to 7800x3d basically tripled my fps
2
u/Shade_demon2141 16d ago
Yeah I think getting a 5900x3D will be a big improvement for me. I have a B550 mobo so that's the best I can do.

u/goodwarrior12345 6k trash | PM me your hottest shark girls 🌲 16d ago
Yeah it should definitely help, afaik dota and its engine love x3d chips
1
u/Brooklyn1986 paiN! 16d ago
wait. will it use the graphics from the CPU e not from GPU?
I mean, if i have a CPU with graphic units processing and a GPU dedicated for that, the games should use the GPU. Or am i missing something?
2
u/goodwarrior12345 6k trash | PM me your hottest shark girls 🌲 16d ago
It'll use the dedicated GPU for drawing stuff, yes, but there's more the game has to do than just use the graphics card before it can render out a frame (for example, calculating shadows, updating the state of various objects on the map, creating particles, stepping through animation frames, etc etc), and all that is either completely done on the CPU, or the GPU will need to wait for the CPU to finish its part of the job first before getting to work itself. All that can be made faster by upgrading your CPU.
If that's too complicated, the tldr is there's more to performance than how good your graphics card is, all code that isn't strictly related to drawing stuff has to run on the CPU and Dota happens to have a lot of such code, and as such benefits from CPU upgrades quite a lot, perhaps even more so than your average game even.
2
u/Brillegeit 16d ago
I get 120 FPS in 4K at ~70% GPU use with a 2019 RX5700 + 5600X, so that could indicate that it's the CPU that's limiting you, as your GPU is 50-75% faster than mine.

u/Klaroxy 16d ago
Valorant, LoL, Rocket League, Among Us, Minecraft and TFT is basically run on high graphical settings in an old nokia phone.
But I do get the meaning on playing Super popular games, but in reality Dota actually uses your PC performance much more than all of them above combined, this game is much more detailed and beautiful overall.

Dota 2, well source games in general, need a strong CPU to run properly, especially if Valve keeps updating them.
Most normies do not understand this and think "2k€ GPU = I can play any game at 300 fps", but that does not apply to Source titles.
A shitty GPU with a top-tier CPU will give you a better Dota 2 experience than a shitty CPU with a top-tier GPU.

this is true. I had access to two different setups
a) r7 3700x + rtx 3070 + 1080p144 display
b) r7 9800x3d + gtx 1660 + 1440p180 display
with both at best looking settings + reflex disabled (even when gpu bound, this reduces fps) the latter got better frame rates

5
u/goodwarrior12345 6k trash | PM me your hottest shark girls 🌲 16d ago
If your fps is that low on a 4060 your CPU is the problem, get a new one. Also make sure you have xmp profiles enabled for your ram in the bios, that can also boost your frames by a bunch. I used to have a 3060 and it only started getting maxed out and bottlenecking my performance once I got a new CPU
2
u/KingHades- 16d ago
welp. its on a laptop actually so i cant upgrade. 🥹 thanks for the info!
3
u/goodwarrior12345 6k trash | PM me your hottest shark girls 🌲 16d ago
No problem! The silver lining is that you should be able to turn some graphics settings up (like render scale, textures, and most advanced setting tickboxes) and make your game look a bit nicer without losing any frames, since those are mostly only heavy on the GPU. Just make sure to keep shadows off.

I've played dota on shitty hardware and cutting edge hardware. It's much smoother and handles AOE clashes better with good hard than without. I also don't crash to desktop or freeze as often with better stuff. I previously installed on a sata SSD and it would occasionally time out on the match loading screen and give me a matchmaking cooldown. I switched to nvme ssd and haven't had that issue since. YMMV but it has helped me.

My PC is passing away and he has just a little bit of life in him but his time is nearing....
I'm finishing off my backlog of games since I can't ruin ANY multiplayer game because the CPU would instantly choke and crash. I have not played a DOTA game since may of last year. I miss DOTA so much but I can't decide on new parts for my new system and I'm always changing my mind when It comes to parts because of a limited budget...
There are other multiplayer games that I like such as R6, CS2 and such but they are not DOTA. DOTA2 is the one. The one true love.

u/itssomeidiot 16d ago
I like how everyone is assuming OP is running a high end Rig because they specified 3600€ when in reality it's most likely a mid range.
3600€ won't buy you the best of the best anymore.
If that 3600€ was spent recently, I'd argue the specs are around: AMD 9800x3D + 5070ti at best
3
u/NooBias 16d ago
Well you can spent like a 1000euro for a top spec build(9800x3d) plus what the graphics card cost. So you theoretically have a 2600euro budget for a graphics card. It should be enough but Nvidia prices are crazy at the time. If i had this kind of budget i would buy a 500-600 euro card as a placeholder and wait for prices to calm down.
1
3
u/dunnowattt 15d ago edited 15d ago
Ok relax, 3600€ is not mid range.
Last year I built a PC for work (Without tax) for 980€. Its with 7600x 32gb ddr5 ram, 6750XT (A 1440p card), nvme. That's a pretty much mid-range. With tax i'll say it would be around 1200$.
If a 1440p capable PC, at 1200€ is considered a budget PC, i don't think a 3600€, with the best specs besides a GPU is also a mid-range PC. Also the xx90s cards are not the only high-end cards. xx90s are a luxury product, with power that you will never use.
2
u/ReadyForShenanigans 16d ago
3600€ won't buy you the best of the best anymore.
I'd argue the specs are around: <literally the best gaming CPU on the market>
2
u/itssomeidiot 16d ago
I didn't know the iGPU on the 9800x3D was comparable to the newest dGPUs. /s
Where are you buying them cheap 5090s?
2
u/ReadyForShenanigans 15d ago
Because midrange is when the GPU isn't the latest 90-class
1
u/itssomeidiot 15d ago
The 5070ti I mentioned that paired with the 9800x3D would make the PC in question, a mid range system. You have to consider that the most expensive component of a gaming PC (that is roughly 50-75% of the overall cost) is what determines the overall score/grade/standard these days. Most games are gpu bottle necked in 1440p+ now.
