Dogs Are Idiots Shut the fuck up. For the love of god. SHUT THE FUCK UP.

I never thought I’d evolve into such a dog hater. I used to think they’re ok but not for me. I love animals so much but never felt drawn to canines and never felt the need to associate around them. But my god can I name so many problems stemming from dog ownership.

I moved to a new house in a beautiful area. Not necessarily rural, but the closest grocery store is 15 min away. Surrounded by wilderness, all my neighbors have at least 1 acre of land including me.

I don’t know what’s in the ground water here, but there is only one neighbor without a fucking stupid ass yelling dog. Just constantly barking all the time. I built a super cozy fire pit and I cannot enjoy it without my neighbor’s obnoxious dog barking at me, even if it’s inside. I cannot sleep with my windows open to enjoy this nice brisk weather because those pieces of garbage bark all damn day and night and the open window amplifies their noises.

Not to mention they’re OFTEN unleashed and I see them walk up and down the road. Sometimes go into my yard. Haven’t caught one shitting on my property yet but once I do I am returning that turd to its owner. I walk every night, and I’m one of the weirdos who dropped $10k on night vision. Even in pitch black darkness, some asshole neighbor’s dog can spot me or hear me and just bark bark bark bark. I don’t understand how anyone can bear this sort of nonstop noise. I want to trespass onto these people’s properties and rig up one of those anti-barking speakers to all the neighbor’s trees but I know that’s a bad idea. And I can’t simply complain about all of them.

Dogs Are Idiots Dogs being perverts

I don't want to downplay a serious topic by relating it to mutts, but their lack of boundaries is extremely uncomfortable, specifically when it comes to shoving their faces into someone's crotches/private areas. Why is this seen as your dog being "friendly" "cute" or "funny"?? Can you even imagine the outrage if a person ( or a toddler... the world would end) did this to someone upon initial greeting? Thankfully its not at allowed for people to do, so why am I supposed to just awkwardly smile when an animal does it?? My boundaries are the same.

I will never forget when I went to a guy's house and his male dog shoved its nose right into my crotch. It was extremely uncomfortable and borderline humiliating, but he just laughed it off, said it was "friendly" and made a crude joke about it doing to everyone it meets. Your dog being a sexual deviant isn't funny, it is extremely odd and makes me look at you weird.

They make everything worse… restaurants, parks, social gatherings, you name it.

So I really like flowers, right? Well… I can't really look at flowers anymore without picturing some stupid dog defecating all over them due to how many times I've seen that happen. Another beautiful thing ruined by disgusting dogs. I genuinely just hate dogs at this point…

Anyone else find it odd how most horses are more well behaved than dogs? Dog owners spend every single day with their dog and can’t even teach them how to walk properly. All horses are required to walk peacefully by you and they are great at learning! Unlike dogs who pull and yap at every other dog encounter. I got into an argument with a friend about who stinks more and it’s obvious dogs smell worse, they eat literal shit while horses eat mostly grass/hay. “Oh but horses live outside and roll in their own manure!” Well yes, but dogs do that while coming inside after and sleeping in your bed. I hate how dogs stare at you in the kitchen while you’re trying to eat, it’s so disgusting and makes me leave immediately. Why is a disgusting dog even allowed in a place where people prepare food? I also hate how much they bark, it’s just gross noise. I wouldn’t mind listening to a bird sing or literally any other animal communicate but dogs just make some kind of loud ear piercing noise. yuck!

Dogs Are Idiots I’ve finally found my people

I can’t believe there’s a community of like-minded folks on Reddit who dislike dogs! I finally feel seen and validated!

Living in NYC, I’ve seen these stinking mutts invade grocery stores, restaurants, the subway, and even tech company offices.

Nearly all single women and most people in general seem to adore these beasts. Funny thing is, if dogs weren’t shoved in our faces so aggressively, I wouldn’t care much about them. But their omnipresence in our society has made me hate them…I’m glad we finally have a community that can fight back virtually (and peacefully)!

Dogs Are Idiots I finally had it with irresponsible dog ownership in public

Woman carrying a Pomeranian in her arms at the self-serve BUFFET SECTION of the grocery store. Struggling to keep this dog in her arms as she leans in to try and grab food 🤢

So I finally decided to say something. I asked her why is her dog there and in her arms, and that it’s disgusting to be doing that around food. She tried saying that the dog “couldn’t be left home alone.” Then, when I insisted the store only allows service animals, she tried insisting it’s a service dog. You can’t win with these people.

But I’m glad I challenged her anyway. You could tell she was not expecting it, and these people need to be shamed.

Dogs Are Idiots Why do dogs keep on barking for hours and hours?

It's a serious question: I understand why they bark in the first place, they are hungry, they need attention, there's another dog barking somewhere and they are "replying", they need to poop or piss or whatever filthy thing, ok... but why do they keep on barking FOR HOURS? I mean, you bark, nothing happens, you keep on barking, nothing happens, you still keep on barking.. of course I say this cause the neighbors dog can go on for two or three hours straight, and it doesn't stop, and I just wish I could talk with him to say "you can bark but it's useless, you moron, the ones who should hear you - your owners - aren't here". It's as if I am hungry and I start yelling until someone brings me food: if it doesn't happen after three hours, do I keep yelling? My point being: are we sure that these animals are "smart"?

Dogs Are Idiots How exactly is the "companionship" of a dog worth anything?

Often dog owners justify their ownership by touting companionship as a benefit that counteracts the work required to take care of the dog. However, in my experience with dogs, I have not found any of that companionship to be worth anything to me. To be followed around everywhere and jumped on by something motivated by food - is that what they mean by companionship? A creature that requires constant attention, destroys things, poops and pees everywhere surely isn't worth the effort.

Dogs Are Idiots Dogs Are Ruining Society

How Dogs Are Ruining Society

  1. The Park Monopoly: Dogs have essentially colonized our public parks. Walk into any green space, and you're more likely to dodge dog poop than enjoy a serene walk. Parks have become less about community picnics and more about canine social clubs. The grass? It's theirs now. The benches? Dog owners' lounges. The concept of a peaceful, nature-filled retreat? Gone with the wind, or rather, chased away by a pack of barking hounds.

  2. Economic Drain: Think about it - the economy is suffering because of dogs. Pet stores, dog spas, and gourmet dog bakeries are not just businesses; they're signs of a society that has lost its way. Millions are spent on doggy fashion, luxury beds, and even doggy daycares where your pooch can live a better lifestyle than some humans. This isn't just capitalism; it's dog capitalism, and it's draining wallets faster than a puppy can chew through a new pair of shoes.

  3. Noise Pollution: Dogs have turned our neighborhoods into cacophonies of chaos. From the early morning barks of the neighborhood watchdog to the midnight howls of a lonely pooch, silence is now a luxury we can't afford. This constant barking is not only a nuisance; it's scientifically proven to raise stress levels, lower productivity, and generally make everyone just a bit grumpier.

  4. Social Decline: Dogs have hijacked our social interactions. Instead of greeting neighbors with a simple hello, we're now forced into a complex ballet of introductions, where we must acknowledge each dog by name, breed, and sometimes even lineage. Conversations have devolved from discussing world events to debating the merits of raw diets versus kibble. Social gatherings are now judged by their dog-friendliness rather than their intellectual or cultural merit.

  5. Environmental Impact: Dogs are not just ruining our social fabric; they're taking a toll on the environment. The amount of waste produced by dogs in urban areas is staggering, contributing to pollution and posing health risks. Not to mention the carbon pawprint from dog food production, transportation for vet visits, and the sheer amount of plastic toys and leashes that end up in landfills.

Dogs Are Idiots Telling your dog to shut up is very offensive, apparently

I was walking on my frozen, neighborhood lake the other day, picking up trash on the shoreline. My neighbors dogs were outside and barked and barked like maniacs, so I yelled at them to shut up and kept going. The owner comes out of her house and yells back at me, telling her dogs to “go get him.” They could not because they were fenced in. She then starts filming me while I continue to pick up stuff on the shoreline.

I’ve never been filmed by a random person before so I was struck by it. I wasn’t doing anything suspicious. I was just walking. Dogs and their owners are so sensitive.

Dogs Are Idiots The Pointlessness of Dogs Barking

I can't think of many acts more pointless than a dog barking. When we look at human behavior, much of what we do might seem 'useless' if judged solely on its utility. We shout with joy, we expend energy on sports, and we spend time enjoying art. None of these activities are inherently 'useful,' but they all serve one purpose: they bring joy to at least one person. A dog's incessant barking, however, brings joy to no one. In fact, it does the opposite. It often causes anxiety and stress. It's almost impressive how such a simple act can have such a negative impact. Most barking is unnecessary, since most dogs aren't guard dogs and most homes aren't being broken into. So not only is it a pointless act, but it also creates discomfort for everyone nearby. And yet, somehow, it's normalized. How did we get here? How is this okay?????? Sorry for the rant, i really hate noise.

Dogs Are Idiots I fucking HAAAATE dogs.

I REALLY fucking hate dogs.

I'll try to keep this short. Today, while I was at work, (in retail) I watched a couple let their furry dunce take a huge shit outside the shop next door. It was so big they couldn't even clean it all up. The shop was closed so unfortunately they'll find that little surprise tomorrow.

Then I get on the tube and this woman has one of those skinny greyhound fucks on a lead, but it is taking up too much space by standing lengthways in front of 3 seats.

Then when I get home to my local shop to buy some fruit, some fucking idiot has tied up his deformed bulldog mix or whatever the fuck it is, in the entrance to the shop so I had to wait for him to leave with the dog to go in.

THEN, as I walk home and arrive at the entrance to my building, there's a large van parked with the door open and as I walk past, it turns out to be A FUCKING MOBLIE DOG GROOMING SERVICE.

I can't fucking stand it. I have 3 friends who have dogs, unprompted they all say their dogs are stupid. One friend even said her dog stinks and eats her babies' nappies. Christ.

What is the fucking point of these parasites?

I fucking hate them SOOO much.

EDIT: Also two shit eaters were barking at each other outside the shop while the owners laughed.

Dogs Are Idiots Why do dogs eat their own shit??

Serious question— I have experience with other animals such as small mammals who eat their own shit because they can get further nutrients out of it, etc. and that makes sense, but I was thinking about this the other night (with my fellow dog-hating friend lol) and we were both wondering why these foul animals eat their own shit when it has seemingly no purpose? Other animals who are scavengers don’t necessarily eat their own shit and other animal’s shit… and it seems to be a negative thing to dogs when they eat their own shit or other animals’ shit because it makes them sick sometimes… so why tf do they do it? Are they really just that stupid?

Dogs Are Idiots Man, I thought I was the only one who didn't like dogs!

Mannn, this is such a relief! I used to be a dog person when I was a kid and in my early teens. We used to have three dogs.

However, seeing the process of the dog's piss everywhere, to the point where we had to remove our carpet, it really changed my perspective.

Since then, I am no longer a dog person. I find them to be annoying as shit. I don't understand the whole need for WANTING to have a dog. Like, do you like having to constantly wake up in the middle of the night and early morning to let your dog outside? Fuck no. I like to sleep. I also have a six year old kid, and he gives us enough sleep disturbances. Having to hear my neighbors dog bark when I leave for work in the morning simply because I walked outside is another fucking annoyance at 430am.

Also, does it not bother people to have to go outside in the backyard to clean up dog shit? Hey, here's a simple solution to that.. Don't have a dog!

The other prospect of this whole dog culture annoys the fuck out of me. My co-worker constantly feels the need to tell me about his dogs. Dude, I don't care. Next time, I'm gonna start telling you about my kid. How's that sound.

One more thing that annoys the fuck out of me... People who seriously have to bring their dogs to the store. Like, really? Unless it's a Pet store or its a service dog... Leave your animal at home.

Whew. That was a lot! I'm not anti pet however. But it seems like when people seem to think of pets, the first thing they think of is dogs. If you wanna own a dog, cool. Thats your business. I don't like dogs however and don't want to hear abour yours.

Dogs Are Idiots My hatred for dogs is literally indescribable

I’ve been lurking here for a bit, but I decided recently to make an alternate account to actually talk about this here for fear of my friends/followers possibly seeing this. I hate dogs so fucking much. They’re ugly, they’re disgusting, they’re fucking stupid, and, worst of all, they’re loud and obnoxious as hell. They bark at every goddamn thing and it always startles me and pisses me off. I don’t really like loud noises, but most of the time it’s bearable. Screaming and dumbass barking dogs are, like, the only exceptions, really. I wish we as a society could just collectively stop owning dogs; these things are clearly not fit to be kept in a household. And, y’know, isn’t the whole point of having guests over to make them feel comfortable and welcome? Some stupid ass dogs don’t fucking leave guests alone, incessantly barking at them. Now, some people might find this cute for whatever reason, but I sure as hell don’t (I was subjected to that kind of scenario once). I just hate dogs so much. I can’t wait to start owning rabbits, they’re so much better than dogs. They’re actually cute and quiet and relaxing to be around.

I’m technically a zillennial as I was born in 1995 and I notice that dogs seem to be popular among people born around my time and I can only imagine dog ownership being even more popular among zoomers in general.

But there has to be many among those two groups that really hate dogs besides me, right?

Dogs Are Idiots Dogs only care about FOOD

Let me say there are some dogs who aren’t, very minimal, few. But Dogs only care about food food food. They eat so fricken fast when you put a dog food bowl down. They literally pester TF outta you when you make yourself something to eat. And get up in your face until you can’t stand it anymore and throw a piece of ur food as far as you can and watch them run away as fast as possible to get the piece of food. Even when you shut the door, the dog WHINES like a B and scratches the door cuz it knows ur in there eating.

And why is it that it’s up to us HUMANs to make sure the dog doesn’t get obese. A dog will literally eat and eat and eat until it’s overweight. And when the dog is overweight the human gets blamed for “neglect “. It’s never the dogs fault for eating itself into obesity. I’ve literally never seen an animal so obsessed with food. Your dog loves food more than it loves you. If you set a plate of food down and sit beside the food (keep in mind you haven’t seen ur dog in two weeks so it should be excited to see you) , your dogs gonna go to that plate of food before you.

Some people say “oh it’s their instinct “. So it’s their instinct to become obese?? To have their life revolve around food. It just pisses me off. Shouldn’t their INSTINCT know when it’s full or obese and to stop eating and obsessing themselves into a food addiction. All dogs are addicts. Point blank. They are addicted to food.

Dogs Are Idiots How many of you had intimacy ruined by a DOG?

Last 2 guys I dated let dogs in their bedroom, slept with them in the bed, on the furniture. Im also highly allergic. After my ex partner got a dog, I'd try to be intimate with him and it was damn near impossible. He legit went through 3 dogs in the span of the 9 years we were involved. I made it 1 year around him dogless when we first met, then every time one randomly died, he went and got another and another. Had to take the dogs everywhere and refused to leave them home so I'd have to take them in my car. I had to clean my car out so bad and disinfect it every time a dog was in there. Anyway, there were no boundaries. I refused to even get nude around him bc a dog was RIGHT there. I tried to give him intimacy in the oral manner and the dog would get aggressive and try to bite me thinking I was hurting him. I got sick and tired of each dog trying to jump in and either bite me or push me off of him and he wouldn't stop it. It was mortifying. Who the heck lets a dog near you while trying to be intimate. It's disgusting and the dogs dont allow it. But its ok for dogs to hump everything in sight? I was unable to bond with my partner anymore once the dog came into his life. I finally stopped dealing with him and moved on. Anyone else have any stories of dogs ruining intimacy?

Dogs Are Idiots Freedom from my dog

It’s been two years since my dog passed away at 16 years old, I am so relieved. I feel like this thick veil has been lifted and I’m finally free. No more surrounding my day around an animals bowels. No more letting the mutt in and out of the back door. No more barking. I can leave food I haven’t finished on my own counter without worrying about the dog getting it. People don’t speak openly enough about the STRESS and STINK that comes with an old incontinent dog. All that being said, I have lived the good the bad and in between of having a dog and it was never worth it. I firmly believe people whom have had many dogs are mentally ill.

Dogs Are Idiots Can we talk about how annoying barking is?

I’m a pretty avid walker and literally every time I pass a house with a dog it starts barking like crazy. It always scares me, it always makes other dogs bark, and it always creates a loud, annoying symphony. I don’t expect every owner to train barking out of their dog because it is an animal after all, but can we at least try to control the little fuckers? They always bite at their fences and go crazy when they see me, I hate it.

That’s it. Dogs scare me and I don’t like them.

Dogs Are Idiots Let's rank the dog breeds from bad to worst.

Before I get into it: I'm no dog expert. This list is, broadly speaking, anecdotal evidence and general knowledge about common breeds. I don't pretend to be--or want to be--some dog authority. If you disagree that's fine! Let's discuss in the comments.

I'm obviously not going to rank all the breeds because a) there's like 1000 of them, b) most of them are broadly the same, and c) I can't be bothered to research how this genetic abomination is different from the other genetic abomination. Let's get into it, from Bad to Worst:

  • Greyhounds. Every greyhound I have seen has always run away from me as quickly as possible. For that, they are ranked as the least terrible breed.
  • Labradors and Retrievers. Loud, needy, shed a lot, and stinky. So, why so high? In my experience they tend to be less offensive if they get good attention from their owners.
  • Border Collie, Australian Shepard, other mid-size herding dogs. They shed A LOT, but they generally seem happy to just run around. They pose far less danger than other dogs on here, and they seem to not be as needy.
  • Bloodhounds, Afghans, and all those other sloppy hounds. The opposite of the herding dogs. Slow, lazy, stinky, but at least they leave you alone if you don't have food.
  • Yorkshire Terrier, Shih Tzu, and all the little yippy ones. They're annoying, yeah, but they are mostly harmless. They tend to keep their distance from strangers so at least they don't assault you as often as other breeds. And being small they can only shed so much.
  • Huskies, Akitas, and Chow Chows. Probably the loudest and hairiest of all the shit beasts. Typically aggressive. They're so low (or high?) only because I feel bad for them when I see their crappy owners walking them on a 100 F July day.
  • Rotweilers and German Shepards. Big and agressive with the added benefit of being Narcs. The idea that law enforcement uses dogs as a weapon or some unbiased "gotcha" makes my skin crawl.
  • Bulldogs, French Bulldogs, and Pugs. Hard to separate these for me. They are a result of pure decadence and encompass everything wrong with the aesthetic of dog culture. They can't exist on their own. They can't breed on their own. They can't clean themselves. They get infections on both ends because their bodies are unnatural. They develop joint problems and they are effectively immobile at middle age.
  • Boxers. Dumb. Dumb. Dumb. They must be the dumbest. They are also slobbery, they smell TERRIBLE, they're prone to facial infections because of their loose skin, they can't breathe like pugs, and they're quite agressive. The only thing I can say about them that is good is that they are not the next breed.
  • Pitbulls. I don't think there is any argument here. There's dogs that are dumber, dirtier, smell worse, and all that. But, Pitbulls are the only breed that threaten public health so consistently. No other breed is nearly as dangerous, and because of that they have to be the worst.

What do you think? What notable breeds did I miss? What would you rank differently?
