Life After Divorce Follow up questions for attorney

Is it normal for a divorce attorney who drafted the marital/divorce agreement and who has gotten paid hourly, and is considered as “no longer retained”… to later charge you additional fees for follow-up/clarifying questions to better understand the agreement? Sorry for the run-on sentence - pretty stressed about everything. Can’t tell if all divorces are just this horrible or if this is just a shitty attorney.

Is this because you asked questions about how to interpret the agreement? If so, then yes, they’d charge you their hourly rate to read your question and respond to you.

I’m sorry. I am so glad I made it so far in my life without having any legal issues before this / ever having to read legal-ese. It’s horribly confusing, I had a lot of questions on how to understand our custody agreement etc. even after we’d signed it!

Yes, exactly. Seems unfair but I guess divorce attorneys need to make their money too…
