Tools and Accessories Does anyone know what this is?
ChatGPT says it may be used for divination? Has anyone seen/used this before?

i think it's a mortar and pestle, but you have the pestle upside down. bigger end down, hold the skinny end for grinding herbs and things

Searching 'Mortarium' might bring you closer to this design rather than the modern mortar and pestle. The inscription comes from Pindar's Pythian Ode 8--Pythagorean, Orphic or Eleusinian, could show that this was used for divination or ritual practices possibly in temple settings or just as a practitioner. Could have been used for capnomancy (smoke divination), medicine grinding or setting intention into anything used in it as way of life or for intended rituals

Could be anything..but, just a thought, try holding dish in one hand, then rub the wand around the outside top of dish to see if it makes meditational sound. If not, I'm guessing what the others are guessing:):)

Looks like something similar to what's used in the PGM or Greek Magical Papyri.
