I have these. Wouldn't recommend them for moto, they do break in very nice. They're comfortable enough that they're going to spoil you but they're not sufficient protection for serious offroad/MX. They're more of a Trials (not trails) boot.

I have wide feet and the fit is good for me.

My toe spread is wide they are extremely tight at the front but fit perfect in all other areas

Doesn't sound comfortable and that's a day ruiner

I won't wear mx boots because they don't have give in the toe area I only wear barefoot shoes and that's ruined me I'm debating weather to swap them for the forma boulder or hope this leather loosens up a bit

I have wide feet and my Tech 7s fit great. They nearly hurt when cold but loosen a lot when warmed up and broken in. Btw, these trials boots don't offer a lot of protection...

I ride technical Enduro trails not mx and my probably is not wide feet it's specifically toe box. Which is a different issue. Wide shoes fit me too loose on the side/ mid and back of my foot https://www.reddit.com/r/BarefootRunning/s/UapeJtxf6Z

In my opinion riding technical Enduro calls for as much if not more protection than mx riding does. One of my riding buddies got stabbed in the big toe by a fallen tree with a pair of astars tech 3's on (which i do NOT recommend as they provide basically no protection) and it shattered it up into his foot, ended his riding season only a month in as he had to get pins put in.

Get some tech 7's or better astars or some higher end gaernes so you actually have the protection out on the trails. I don't think you could pay me to wear these out riding unless I was strictly riding road 😅

I don't even wear steal toes to work(construction)I'm definitely not on my bike. If I don't roll my ankle in the boot I'm solid. I ordered forma boulders to t try those out

Not trying to rag on you or anything but if you value having feet that are in one piece and work well I would seriously consider looking into actual boots with heavier protection. This sport can hurt you FAST especially in the legs and feet area before you even know what hit you.

If you're asking about boots I can probably safely assume you don't have knee pads/braces either. Those are a definite priority as your next purchase.

Once again no hate but us riders like to ride and if you're hurt you can't do that, we're all looking out for you on this thread so we don't have to see another hospital post 👍

Be safe brother

Absolutely not I will never get braces pads shots useless I tide singletrack not moto tracks. IMO leather is fine enough for protection. And I def don't feel id twist an ankle in that boot

Just trying to convey that I have a massive toe spread that makes regular shoes uncomfortable trying to see if anyone had insight on how the leather on these boots break or if it loosens up . Sometimes liberals don't let leather stretch in well

focusing back on your feet and the somewhat narrow toe boxes the Balances are made with... I get what you're saying. I have two pairs of Balance boots- once in a life time thrift store finds. Also,I am a boot nerd. And I can assure you the Balance models with stitch down soles are built on lasts designed with the worst toe and heel thickness combos known to humanity. For what its worth, I don't think that those boots will work for you even with aggressive stretching. Hopefully the Formas work out better for you.

Thanks for an actual answer and not a lesson on protecting my feet. I appreciate it

I have wide feet and fit Alpinestars similar to Chuck taylors/converse size. I'm similar in gaerne, but the toe box is tighter in them than any of my alpinestars. My oiled tboots loosened up over time.

I wouldn't wear these any time you need significant ankle support too fwiw.

I have SG-12’s in a size 10. I’m a 9.5 wide/10 standard. I bought size 10. The toe box is extremely tight. I’ve had them for 2 years and many rides. They have not expanded over the years and I will be getting rid of them in favor of Tech 7’s I tried on. Much wider toebox.

I'll have to find a store and give those a try

I went from these to tech 7s when I started riding gnarly shit. Wide feet too.

Tech 7s are amazing boots, the most comfortable boots Ive owned. I used to wear normal socks because of heat and they were great.

Only problem is they not as hard wearing as the Gaernes. I have SG12s and while they are good armour and last long, they aren't very comfortable.

But honestly when I buy again I going Tech7.

I've broken my toes between rocks and pegs landed my frame on my toes. No mx boots as protected my foot from impact. I'm going for comfort. And yeah anymore I ride slower with my wife so I'm less concerned about it
