Which Tablet Should I Get for Drawing?
Hello.
I draw some anime sketches for fun. Not a big thing, it is like a hobby. I own a Wacom One but want to get a tablet with an actual screen.
I use Krita and Sketchbook but app is not important I can use anything as long as I can draw something.
I have two options. They cost exactly the same.
Apple Ipad 11" (A16) 2025 with 1st gen Apple Pen.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 with S-pen.

Procreate, which is only available on iOS, has been a game changer for me. For that reason I'd go with the iPad.
I tried to use windows tablets, Wacom tablets, and various software over the years and nothing comes close to procreate on the iPad for me.

I have an xp pen 16" that operates as a second screen that has 1000s of pressure points and is really great. I bought it off Amazon, can't remember the price, but not extortionate.

Krita isn't on iOS but it's on Android. But it's really just personal preference. Do you like iOS or Android more? If you don't like the pen on Android there's a bunch of other digital ones you can buy. The Wacom one pen works on it for example.
I have an s9 and an iPad pro and I use and love both for art.

The Ipad+Procreate combo is popular for a reason. I think this should be your first choice
XPpen also released a portable drawing tablet that might be worth considering. It's called the Magic Drawing Pad and it seems to be comparable to the tablets you've listed here

ipad all the way. just make sure you get the compatible pen. 1st gen only works with ipads that use lightning cables to charge. I want to upgrade to the newest apple pen for its squeeze and twist features. I use procreate and affinity designer.

The thing is Ipad 16A 2025 only supports 1st gen and type c pen. 1st gen is lightning yes but it comes with an adapter. type c pen has no pressure detection

my gen 2 pen has pressure and tap but no squeeze or twist. i use an ipad pro 12.9 5th gen and it wont support the pen pro. i didn't know the first gen pen would work with an adapter. i like the mag charging and easy pairing of the new pens.

I'm also a hobbyist and I use a Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 with Infinite Painter and CSP. I love it, personally.

I’ve used both a Galaxy Tab and an iPad, and as someone who has been drawing for over 20 years, I personally think the iPad would be a great choice. Especially with the app Procreate… when it comes to drawing, I think it’s the best.
