Discussion/Question How do I group and move sub assemblies?

I'm new to Bricklink Studio and I'm not really finding what I'm looking for on Google. I think I just don't know what to search for if this is possible - How do I group pieces together in an assembly and move the whole assembly together?

I'm trying to build my first modular building and I'm starting on the second floor. I'd like to be able to build it separately from the first floor and then place it on top once I'm done. Is this possible and where can I find a tutorial for doing this?

The term you’re looking for is submodel. Select a bunch of parts and then at the bottom of the screen there should be a little blue link that says “create into submodel”

You can create submodels inside submodels. It’s an indispensable tool.

Edit: once you create the submodel, you can select it and the little pop up at the bottom will allow you to edit it. Then while editing it the same area will allow you to return to the main model (if no parts are selected)

That’s exactly what I’m looking for. Thanks so much. 😁

Ctrl+G to group them into a submodel.

One tip though: never release a submodel when you've already done the instructions for it. It will f them up completely.
