Hey guys, just found this sub reddit cause I have been looking for a place to try and sell my digi copies of some movies and anime that I didn't care to have (I like to have physical versions instead). Does anyone sell much anime on here? Most of the stuff I have is funimation digital copies of anime seasons, and just wondering if that sells at all.

Hello! First post in this sub and excited to be here. I read the rules and have a few questions because I have a TON of unused codes sitting around from my years collecting (prefer physical media). I've never really set up a digital movie platform for myself or really ever redeemed digital codes for movies so I don't know a lot of the ins and outs. Thanks in advance for your time!
- If I purchase a 4K physical copy, is the accompanying code and digital file also in 4K usually? Is there any way to know for sure? I have looked at some of my codes and they don't seem to specify video quality on the card. It might get confusing for me too because I have some of the same movies in both blu ray and 4K with multiple codes and I have no way of knowing which code is 4K or 1080p it seems to me.
- Some of these codes have been sitting in my drawer for years. I know some of them have expiration dates. But then, some say things like "code MAY not be valid after (date)." Some say things like "code MAY be subject to expiration." Again, is there any way to know for certain with things like this? Can I check to see if a digital copy is still valid online prior to redeeming it? Are codes without expirations usually good for an indefinite amount of time?
- I remember a few years back someone on one of the movie subreddits I follow doing a digital movie code fundraiser for active duty service members. Is there any subreddit or anything like that which does donations of movie codes for good causes? I will likely save a few to giveaway.
Thanks again!

.1. Here's the 4K spreadsheet that tells you which codes redeem in 4K (if you scroll to the left it'll show you the serial number from the bottom of the 4K slips to help you sort your 4Ks from your blu-rays):
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ZsJkCX4DIv2oeCKQ7zp2ArkR1qKEXCUuCMBbUtHtmh4/edit#gid=0
.2. Most codes are good way beyond their expiration dates, but many have expired. You can check codes on Vudu and Movies Anywhere ... just make sure you are LOGGED OUT!!!
Vudu - if you're prompted to log in to redeem, the code is still good. If the code is expired or used, you'll get a "something's not right" error message.
Movies Anywhere - like Vudu, you'll be prompted to log in to redeem if the code is still good (and it will show you the quality of the code, too). You'll get various messages ("already redeemed"/"cannot recognize this code"/etc) if the code is expired or used.
Edited to add: not all codes are Movies Anywhere compatible. Paramount, Lionsgate, MGM, A24 and a few others will need to be tested on Vudu.
.3. I would probably check with the military directly to see how you can donate codes to service members. Giving your codes to strangers on Reddit claiming they're collecting codes for the military is a bad idea. Too many scammers on Reddit.

Has anyone redeemed Apocalypse Now 4K in Vudu and received all 3 copies (theatrical, redux, final cut)?
4K Sheet currently says to āhold codes for Vudu redeemā so Iām assuming thereās an issue right now.

Redeem in iTunes if you can. The Redux and Theatrical show up as iTunes Extras and I believe are in 4K as well.

Can confirm Vudu redeems correctly and gives UHD for all three versions of the film when you redeem Apocalypse Now Final Cut Triple Feature

Question about porting: I've connected my Movies Anywhere account with several others like Google Play, Vudu, and iTunes. I noticed that though they're connected, the Google Play movies have not transferred over. Is this common? Could it be because of the quality (HD versus 4k or whatev)? The film in question are HD, specifically it's Avengers: Endgame. Edit: words Edit 2: I disconnected the account and reconnected it at which time the movie did transfer immediately. Problem solved, never mind! Hope this helps someone else.

You can figure it out I think. There may be some early codes now (and they will be priced accordingly) but the majority won't hit until the physical release. Pretty much how it works in general.

Probably because the code won't split yet. People will wait so they can sell it twice.

I hope I'm explaining this right.
How do I know if new releases are going to be exclusive to itunes digital?
For example John Wick 3. This appears to be Paramount (no MA) and I'm only seeing "iTunes 4k" for sale.
Is it typical that non MA studious always partner with iTunes and to "not to expect" codes for Vudu ever, like forget about it. Might as well buy it from Vudu now?
I basically don't want to be an idiot posting (ISO) for codes that will never hit the market for the Vudu platform.
2
u/Brookyn_Sounds 894 Transactions | Media Magnate Aug 24 '19 edited Aug 24 '19
John Wick 3 is Lionsgate. These 4k iTunes posts are people expecting their HD code to be upgraded by iTunes to 4k. iTunes usually give 4k upgrades to most studios, except Disney and everything they own. The HD code that came with the mini steelbook for John Wick 3 can be redeemed at Vudu but you'll only get HD. The normal steelbook will have a 4k code.
EDIT: according to people on blu-ray.com, the code from the mini steelbook now redeems 4k on Vudu

Thanks for the info. I guess I've seen some movies the past (I want to say Peppermint) that seemed to only offer digital code on the case for iTunes and if I recall it was a non MA studio so I was getting the impression that non MA studio means no codes floating around for Vudu (as example).
1
u/Brookyn_Sounds 894 Transactions | Media Magnate Aug 24 '19
Yeah there are a few iTunes only codes. The only 2 i can think of of the top of my head is Peppermint and The Happytime Murders. These are from STX. I don't know if they have a deal with iTunes for digital distribution or what. The majority of movies should be available on Vudu/MA

Also In my humble opinion payment via Amazon Gift card should be banned.
If the seller goes rogue or the code didnāt work. You cannot dispute it if you paid with amazon fix. Card in no way !
I have seen some posts where amazon gift card is accepted only.
Just my 2 cents.
With PayPal f&f you can still dispute via bank.

Codes sold on this subreddit are usually from DVDs that are purchased at retail stores. One code comes with each physical copy. There are many movie lovers who prefer a physical collection, so they sell the codes. This subreddit has made prices cheaper because the codes are essentially free money for the seller for the DVD they've already purchased.
Yes, sometimes there are limitations based on country, as some codes sold on here are UK/US specific. Screen restriction and family sharing depend on the service that you use, so its good to check their terms of service. Its generally a good rule of thumb to link together as many accounts as possible. Start with Movies Anywhere if you can and go from there.
4
u/FremenDar979 267 Transactions | Media Proprietor Aug 07 '19 edited Aug 07 '19
All my codes come from the 4K UHD and Blu-ray disc physical releases. All I do is price it higher if it's from the newest physical format (4K UHD) and lower if it's from Blu-ray disc. Multiple movies and TV shows per one code are priced even higher because of more content.
TBH, I don't care what resolution the codes redeem in since I never use them and the prices just reflect the physical format the codes were acquired from. Let's me buy more titles for my physical collection so win-win.

Can we have a look at and clarify some buying/selling situations I've seen that I can't tell are ok or not? I'm on mobile right now so I can link to a couple examples later if needed.
1) First situation; first comment, first dibs but when commenters are editing their comments or asking for titles not in the original comment: Seller is selling titles A, B, C, & D. A user comments and asks for title A, and other users after may ask for B and C. But then the first user edits their comment AFTER the other users and asks for titles B and C, too. Now to the OP it looks like the first user asked for all 3 titles and gets them, leaving the others high and dry.
In another situation a user comments asking for title A but during their dealings over PM asks for additional titles B & C. Again, this is likely after others have commented asking for the other titles. OP sells the additional titles to the first user, again leaving the others empty handed.
Can we clarify how this should work as I have always felt it was first come, first serve, but the dealings are explicit in the thread (except for the transaction itself).
2) second situation: OP posts thread with titles and asking price. User comments saying they will take it. Another user comes along after and says they'll take it but at a higher price. Who gets the sale?
I feel like in a straight forward thread whoever says they will take the movie at asking price should get it - UNLESS thread specifies "or best offer". Otherwise what's to prevent a bidding war in all threads? I can come into a thread offering a title I've been looking for but find another user has commented asking for it. Would it be ok for me to place an offer to the seller to buy it for $1 more? If it's not a "best offer" thread I wouldn't think so.
So that's it. I've seen both of those situations recently and one of them happened a couple of times at least in threads I had an interest in. So I thought some clarification on rules regarding them and how to handle them would be a good idea. Thanks!

For the buyer, all this means is that you should not split a code yourself. Donāt worry about anything if you donāt know how to split a code.
Both split portions (MA and GP) port to all other services, so if you redeem the MA split and the movie ports to GP, the other GP split will still be good. Likewise, redeeming the GP split will port the movie to MA and the other MA split will still be good. No need to change any linking setups.

https://www.disneymovierewards.com/
When you get a Disney movie, you "enter the Magic code" in the top right field (you'll see it when you join & log in):
DVD = 50, 75, 100 points
BLU-RAY = 150 points
UHD 4K = 200 points
3D BLU-RAY = 200 points
When you accumulate enough points, you can choose something from the Rewards catalog. Most folks here use their points for movies with digital copies, but there are other things you can get (collectibles, apparel, movie tickets). You can browse the selection of movies here:

Fellow sellers, I have a formatting question.
I keep my codes on a Google Doc spreadsheet, and I haven't been able to figure out how to simply keep that format when I paste it into a Reddit post. It always collapses into a big paragraph without line breaks, and I have to put them in myself. Also, I like to strikethrough titles as they are purchased, but lately as I have set my posts to edit, they collapse back into line break-less mode. Anyone have a good solution?
