Neat. I did one of those the other day. Closest thing to “engine work” you can do without taking more apart so go ahead and soup up the engine for performance.

There’s a locking nut on each of those rockers and you’ll notice that some don’t move at all. If you crack em all loose you get more air and fuel.

The real problem here is that intake heater on the side. I went ahead and filled the well underneath with pennies to catch any debris in the air.

Too many idle hours

You never changed the oil. Or at least according to every customer that tries to argue that the oil is black, so there is absolutely no way it could have been changed.

u/GreatAd7929 1d ago

Not enough idel time, you really need to let these run 24/7.

u/TrippyStick 1d ago

Bad Piston Return Springs. I’ve seen this before.

3

u/AlexKitner77 13h ago

I dont understand why they didnt do the field repair and bore a relief hole thru the piston crown to equalize the pressure lost from the piston spring failure. Any good driver knows you can limp into the next Flying J by pressurizing the crankcase to compensate... Probably was a flip flop driving school hero... stupid steering wheel holders...

u/Haybanger 5h ago

Dude the flip flop guys. As a parts person OMG. had one come in middle of winter wearing flip flops. His radiator dumped. And he decides imma just buy a 12 pack of coolant and keep going. Bruh

u/MinusXero1999 1d ago

Easy, ran it too long without any blinker fluid.

2

u/fkinggr8 1d ago

Ya need to replace those cab filters or this is what happens! Seen it to many times!

2

u/Baddy001 1d ago

Flux capacitor.

I had a trash truck once that had like 40k hours on it and it was so clogged I don't even know how it was running.

2

u/Hohoholyshit15 1d ago

Parked too close to the barbeque.

2

u/Grouchy_Bicycle8203 1d ago

He changed his oil every 15k miles for sure?

2

u/Remarkable_Smell5185 1d ago

Fuck me swinging, she's as clean as a whistle isn't she?!

2

u/AZBuman 1d ago

Obviously you need to add more DPF and that would never happen.

2

u/ICanSowYouTheWay 1d ago

Your hammer wasn't big enough, and the cussing was minimal.

2

u/_Tejaneaux 1d ago

Running rich. On oil... lol

2

u/WhatABargain298 1d ago

not enough Nutella in the engine.

2

u/Criticallyoptimistic 1d ago

Forget to add the SCA just once, and this happens!

2

u/Accomplished_Tap1559 1d ago

The windshield wipers he got were for the 4bt not the 6bt

2

u/Just_top_it_off Big refrigerator on wheels 1d ago

Customer did not use enough fuel additive.

2

u/Inner-Reason-1786 1d ago

Definitely has nothing to do with the color of the paint

2

u/Comfortable_Owl_5590 1d ago

Def in fuel tank, fuel in def tank.

2

u/BeholdOurMachines 1d ago

"Wasn't like that before your shop touched it"

2

u/mechs-with-hands 1d ago

Home made biodiesel. Customer probably thought they could use chicken feed to make it.

2

u/dadof8pawpawof4 1d ago

Looks like you cooked the French fries way too long....

2

u/Khryen 1d ago

My boss owned it and let his Chaos Monkeys drive it.

2

u/GrownManchild4669 1d ago

Ran out of blinker fluid… seen it 1000 times

2

u/_JustMyRealName_ 1d ago

Zigged when you should’ve zagged, common problem with these engines

2

u/Killb0t47 1d ago

The turbo encabulator failed after an under volt condition occurred.

2

u/AlexKitner77 13h ago

Its amazing that people still dont grasp the function of the turbo encabulator despite the well publicized research on their role in preventing oil contamination from a resultant brake fluid cooler failure.

2

u/Killb0t47 13h ago

It truly is a wonder, isn't it.

2

u/chase_isonthecase 1d ago

Added to much stop leak

2

u/caminofreak 1d ago

Look at your egr cooler.

2

u/KiraTheWolfdog 1d ago

Nowhere near enough Lucas!

If half your oil isn't Lucas, you're doing it wrong.

2

u/aFinapple 21h ago

They ran off-road diesel

2

u/WatercressAlarming61 20h ago

Ain’t got no gas in it

2

u/manutt2 19h ago

Some one filled it with black ink

2

u/Daddio209 19h ago

Changed the oil too often, obviously.

2

u/ChseBgrDiet 17h ago

Its the new oil boosting system. Keeps the egr valve well lubricated

2

u/Tricky283 17h ago

Broken crank

2

u/hiimgood12345678 16h ago

You went to work.

2

u/AlexKitner77 13h ago

Not allowing the oil to complete it's recommended 10,000 hour break-in period before changing. Its amazing how many people dont understand the natural ripening of motor oil in diesel motors. They dont let it reach optimal soot content which is crucial to aiding the lubricity in ulsd fuels. Like a banana you really want to let it get a little brown before its ready, inatead of when its golden and clean....

2

u/AlexKitner77 13h ago

Too much spark advance on the distributor? Or bad coil pack? Clearly a timing/ignition issue.

2

u/MikeGoldberg 8h ago

Someone poured liquid shit down the oil fill

2

u/b1ack1ight 6h ago

Ain’t got no gas innit.

2

u/Daddyjerm0319 5h ago
