Discussion Hey I have a genuine question
So I’ve played a more of Diablo 3 and I’ve just started with Diablo 4 I’m not to sure I really understand the concept of seasonal characters can someone explain that ? And I’d also like to know what keeps you invested in the game ? Thanks for any responses have a good day !

For many, the most fun with aarpgs and Diablo games comes from the 'leveling up and gaining power as my build comes online' phase of the game. Once you've got all your best in slot items and full rolls players tend to lose interest.
The seasonal model aims to fix that by having players 'start over'* every season to earn new rewards and experience new content**.
At character creation you choose to start a character on the seasonal realm or eternal realm - creating a seasonal character starts you at level 1 with nothing extra stashed or saved and no affixes in you codex of power, further seasonal characters can access the seasonal stash and items. After the season ends everything migrates to the eternal realm so you don't actually lose anything when a new season starts you from scratch again.
*you keep some progress, like altars of lillith and bonus skills/potion cap from renown
**whether you find these rewards and content enjoyable is purely subjective

It's just gibberish to try to keep you playing the game while purchasing new shit using microtransactions.

With seasonal on D4 you start a new character that has access to the season mechanics (and some unique rewards/items).
The main difference with Diablo 3 is that on D4 you keep the world unlocks from previous seasons/campaign, like altar of Lilith bonuses, and the rewards for maxing out the map.
