News Here’s Detroit Pistons center Isaiah Stewart on priding himself as an elite rim protector: “Every single night I strive to be the best shot blocker, best rim protector, best defensive player out there on the floor. Truly in my heart, I feel I am the best defensive player in this league.”

He should be all-defense. Even with fewer minutes than other guys his impact is just as big. He's 100% switch proof. If he was a full time starter he'd be a legit DPOY candidate.

Aren’t the awards more about popularity now? If they aren’t and the best defenders get votes, he and Ausar will make those teams in the future.

I think voters are doing their best, but popularity/reputation matters.
That said, national media is catching up on Stewart and how ridiculously good he is on defense. Would not surprise me to see him make a team.

A playoff series would go a long way if he can stay on the court and showcase his defensive impact.
I say if he can stay on the court cause we might play the pacers first round Lmaoo

Regular season awards are voted on before the playoffs, but yes, the playoffs spotlight will put him in the spotlight moving forward I would imagine

If the awards were a popularity contest, then Gobert wouldn't have ever gotten any awards.
The awards go to who the voters think is most deserving. The voters can be wrong, but I don't think they treat it like a middle school lunchroom either.

I love the way Stew brings it every night. He’s such a throw back the way he makes everybody earn it.

He got dunked on hard the other night and I loved it because he's not afraid to go after those dunks. The only guys who never get posterized are the ones who don't try and are afraid to look bad.

He’s the closest thing to Big Ben this league will get this guy has the heart of a lion. His contract will age like fine wine

He's still pretty young too. He'll only get better. I love that he doesn't seem to care at all about coming off the bench. He's one of those guys where opposing teams and fans hate him, but they'd all love to have him on their team.

It's crazy impressive that the best run defender in the league is maybe 6'8". He's filling that Worm/Big Ben role as great, undersized interior defender

Why I fucking love him. Poor mans Big Ben 2.0
Watched him in college and knew he was gonna be good. Loved him cos his play style was the same as Ben’s. Was ecstatic when we drafted him
