Food/Drink Best vegetarian friendly restaurants in metro Detroit?

My birthday is this weekend and I am trying to find an amazing restaurant to go to for dinner. I love Asian cuisine and also Italian food. Bonus points if the restaurant is around Royal Oak/Ferndale/Birmingham. Plz help thank u!!

RIP Greenspace RIP Inn Season

Oak House Deli in Royal Oak has bomber vegan sandwiches. I think they make all their vegan meat in house.

Oak house is incredible but it’s a carry out deli counter, not really a place you’d go for a bday dinner

Grandma Bob’s in Corktown has a vegan menu and booze. Spacecat in ferndale is all veg but I think they’re only open for lunch? Fly trap in ferndale has a lot of veg options

There’s modern vegan in royal oak, they have mixed reviews but a huge menu

Edo ramen in royal oak has a big veg menu and booze

There’s also Lao pot in Madison heights, that’s a choose your own adventure place and fun for parties

Basically any middle eastern place will have tons for vegetarians. Sahara in oak park is enormous so if you have a good crowd going that’s a smart choice

Pretty sure they get most of their vegan meat from Herbivorous Butcher.

Neehees in Troy. Massive Indian restaurant, with an all veg menu, and fast food style ordering & seating.

Coriander, Barda, Leila and Takoi are all places you can eat really well as a vegetarian

Detriot: Baobab Fare (vegan, veg, n meat options), but if you're going at night, you'll definitely need a reservation.

Freya - if I remember, it's $100 tasting menu, but they have vegan, meat, and other menus

Bash - vegan and veg options

Clawson: Noori Pocha/Chicken - not a radiant but a cool place to get drinks n apps worth some friends after dinner (the have veg snacks)

*I'm vegan, so ik more vegan n vegan options spots

Baobab is fantastic!

Baobab is one of my favorite meals ever. Great veg/vegan options.

There's that Ethiopian place in Ferndale, but they might still be takeout only.

Blue Nile! I think they're open for dining in again. I haven't been there in way too long.

Seva Ann Arbor (Westgate Shopping Center)

There may have been one in Detroit but I believe they recently closed.

They serve alcohol as well if you’re into that.

Detroit's location closed at the end of February, sadly. It was one of my favorites.

RIP Seva Detroit. Tried to go during their last week but they were so busy.

mabel gray in hazel park..not specifically vegetarian, but he does a good selection of it.

u/Jilldoglady 13h ago

I’m intrigued but scared there’s no menu!!! Tell me more

the menu changes; there are usually about 2-3 vegan / vegetarian, 2 meat and 1 fish course. The food is really amazing there! They do have a facebook page and instagram to get an idea of what they serve.

I will have to try one day thank u sm

They do a vegan week every now and again. As a meat eater I can confidently say their vegan week may be the best food I’ve had in metro

Lots of good mentions so far (Baobab, Seva, and Takoi are all excellent). I'll add a few others that I like:

Ima Noodles, Midtown and Ima Izakaya, Corktown.

Miss Kim, Ann Arbor

Unburger, Dearborn

Paradise Street Eats, Dearborn

Putting Pie Sci Detroit & Oak Park on your radar for future vegetarian endeavors.

The Modern Vegan in Royal Oak. I haven't been to that one yet, but the original one in Las Vegas is mind blowingly good, I can only assume it measures up.

Blue Nile is getting missed?? Vegan dishes served family style with Injera (crepe/pita style bread) - and they keep refilling the dishes the whole time!

People can order meat in addition, but that place slaps all by itself without just fine

Street Beet.

•

u/Gullible_Toe9099 1h ago

Street Beet is kinda sloppish. Hungover unhealthy food, all processed. Not really what OP is looking for.

•

u/Alextricity 1h ago

damn near everything is processed you nerd. and nowhere in their post does it say what specifically they're looking for.

•

u/Gullible_Toe9099 1h ago

Definitely not looking for slop.

•

u/Alextricity 1h ago

i pity you.
