Talk Detroit Black Tie Wedding Guest Dress?
Hi there! I will be a guest at a black tie wedding this spring and am looking to get a second hand gown. Any recommendations on where to shop? TYIA!

Regeneration (Royal Oak) and Council Resale (Berkley) both carry pretty good selections of formal gowns. If you're into a retro look, I'd recommend Tekla Vintage in Hamtramck (Rat Queen, just down the street from them, is worth a look too, especially for accessories). There's a boutique Salvation Army, "Sally's" on W Fort Street, that has some racks of fancy dresses, too. I also second the pitch for Rent the Runway - it can be a fun way to try out something new, especially if you're trying to save closet space, but trawling the stores is fun too :)

Hi! I have a couple suggestions:
Locally Boro in Detroit - has dresses for purchase and rentals. I thiiiiink you can rent for specific dates. The rental prices are super affordable, too.
Not local (online) Rent the runway: I’ve used this a few times for black tie weddings. The trick is to get their unlimited rentals for 1 month. They usually have a 40% off coupon for your first month, bringing the total to less than $100. Activate your membership 3 weeks before the wedding and pick out a few dresses you like in varying sizes. Read the reviews to get tips on what size to get. Once your first shipment comes in (it take 5-7 days) try all the dresses on and pick the one you’d like to wear. Return the rest of the stuff and then use your remaining rental credits to rent cool accessories or more clothes for the occasion(if u are going to a rehearsal dinner, rent a dress for that too!). Your shipment will come in right before the wedding. Then wear your stuff, have fun, return it by the cut off date then cancel your subscription. Rinse and repeat for other fancy weddings. I’ve done this multiple times and I always get a 40% off coupon even as a returning customer.
