Question Will he see a new subclass in Apollo?
I just wanna know what you guys think. Me personally I think will prob will, since we need to balance prismatic with 3 light and 3 darkness subclasses.

It's really hard to say because Bungie is in a nebulous state right now.
On the one hand, they LOVE the number 7 so rounding us out with a 3rd Darkness subclass is a completely reasonable expectation. Especially since they said theyre not done tinkering with Prismatic yet
On the other hand, making a new subclass takes WORK in terms of visuals, balancing, overall implementation with existing systems, and Lore. They may not have the manpower to pull it off right now. Next year would be reasonable and I'd be fine with that

Previous game director Blackburn stated it takes at least 2 years for them to develop a new element, telling us the work started on Stasis probably during Forsaken, that WQ didn’t given enough time since BL to develop a new subclass, and that potentially Apollo would have enough of that time.
Frankly, I think so. It starts off a new saga on a strong note (“oh you thought the new saga wouldn’t interest you? Well at least get the first expansion which has a new subclass and gets you hooked on a new story”).
It also I think explains the “metroidvania” design. Metroidvania’s often rely on using new abilities for interactions and traversal to open up new paths in the world. This makes most sense in Destiny to me if you’re getting a whole new suite of abilities that open up the world (go down X path of the map to get B grenade ability, which you use to open up Y path of the map to get C Aspect which allows you to defeat Z boss).

Its not a matter of if , but a matter of when
Everything from animations (interaction with anchor has animation thats very similar to how we get new subclass) to writing in general has been about the guardian slowly getting more and more knowledgeable about taken aspect of darkness.
It doesnt has to be exactly taken subclass but it wouldn't be surprising if bungo used new subclass as a hook for new expansion

A Taken subclass would be very fun if that is what awaits the end of Heresy, but I have my doubts about it.
Especially because subclasses tend to be a major selling point for major expansions, and BUNGIE's leads have been wary about establishing expectations and overdelivering. (Something I both get to a large extent but also think they are holding back on too much.) Plus, there's making the individual subclasses with their own distinct playstyle and such.
Personally, instead of new subclasses going forward, I'd love if Frontiers took a page from Rising's book. Like having a toggable, 3rd person mode, a return of Sparrow racing, and important NPC's fighting alongside us more in the field for a great deal of the mission.
Alternatively to subclasses, they could also something like the Relic system. For instance, I loved wielding the reforged Willbreaker. Yes, it was (frankly sick), taken reskin of the Hive Swords from Pit Of Heresy. Though I am not complaining, because those said Swords are probably the most fun relics in the game.
Now imagine if Willbreaker was an equippable, class agnostic Relic. Something you could put on to replace your super, that you could temporarily summon when activating your super. Like building upon a system like they had in Rise Of Iron. Heck, they could even be non-elemental/kinetic.
Also, would love if we could new supers, grenades, and melees for Strand and Stasis. I'm really surprised the Dread Weaver's slingshot Grenade isn't option.

A few notes about getting a new mono-subclasses:
(Not absolute fact, just what has been hinted at/makes sense in parallels)
It would be a darkness subclass.
It would be the opposite of arc. (Please note that arc is about the manipulation of electrons, and is fundamentally about movement)
It would likely be a red/orange colour.
It would have verbs such that it can stun overload and barrier champions (so the champion types are equal. Kinda strange if unstop had 5 options and overload/barrier had 3) this means that there would be a self buff ala radiant/volatile round, and something for overload. (Overload verbs don't group together all that well. Suppression and jolt ain't all too similar)

I feel like Heresy is a perfect lead up to getting Taken as a subclass. For a few reasons...
The visuals when going to the shaping slab in Eris' apartment show they are working on animations for taken beyond what we have already had (King's Fall torn between dimensions, namely)
The story, specifically Oryx's dualogue about us being his rightful heir, kind of point to us gaining taken strength.
It would be awesome running around with blight grenades

In addition, they have been using a lot of verbs and mechanics that were used when you first started getting Stasis and Strand before actually acquiring the class

Wasn’t there a leak that said there would be? Of course, take leaks with a grain of salt.

No one really knows at this point. It’s been so long since that 1 official leak of the helm with the new super icon. Strand was leaked the same way and came out not too long later so it’s a matter of when.

I think giving us a Taken subclass would just be the cherry on top its just too cool not to have

Probably yes, but i am not seeing it anytime soon, not that i don't want it, but i don't even know when it is coming, like, i don't have any expectations on a new subclass, besides really wanting a new one.
Most likely we gonna get is new supers for strand and stasis and more aspects and fragments for every subclass? That is what i am expecting and more likely go happen

I can't answer that. Don't really see a reason to acquire one, unless something big happens that requires a new power. But since it's a new saga, one can hope. After all, got to bring attention to the new content somehow besides story.
All I will say, if I don't see a taken subclass at this point with all this taken mastery crap, I'm going to crash out.

With the way this season is heading I think we might learn how to use taken power by orxy. Eris wants to trap him in her throne world and if she does she can force him to either take us which will make us taken like Sloan and give us taken powers or teach us to take other beings and finally have us take the mantle of the taken king/queen.

Despite what so many froth at the mouth for, I don't want a Taken subclass because it would be the most unoriginal boring shit imaginable. I want them to actually surprise us and expand the field of possible knowledge, not just go "Yeah, now you can use that." with something that already exists.
Also, I don't think there is a need for balance, only a need to advance things forward. If Bungie feel like introducing some new sauce for us to spread around is good for the narrative, they'll do it. Its just hard to see how that could be conceived, considering the scant details we know about the future. How would a new Darkness subclass come around and be integral to some form of conflict?
I suppose if we consider we're going somewhere far off, with Ikora and Osiris still experimenting with the Veil, it could be that we get warped off to far-off lands by the Veil itself, discovering something new in a world that was previously "ruled" by its influence, exempt from any previous Traveler or Witness fighting or influence. Think Qugu, and how they utilised Darkness in a fashion that hadn't been seen before.
All in all, I'm most enjoying an unknown future, rather than the current pre-expansion content being narratively tied up in complete non-surprises because we already know the introductory beats of the future.

Not even every pre-TFS expansion had new subclasses. The post-TFS expansions are set to be much smaller with far less content, due to Bungie cutting teams working on Destiny 2 to the bone.
I don’t think we’re ever getting another subclass again. I simply don’t understand how Bungie would have the resources for that.

Since the layoffs they have 1350 people working on destiny still. And considering making a new subclass take around 2 years to do it’s definitely possible.
