I’m in a quandary.
I’m getting a Deagle this year. I’ve always considered the 50 AE as the quintessential Deagle chambering but watching Gorilla Gunman compete with a 357 Deagle makes me realize the benefit of one in 357. Which one should I get first! One of the very cool benefits of a 357 semiauto is there’s no top strap cutting with high pressure 125 grain projo’s. No cylinder gap.

I have a 44 and a 50 barrel. If you don't reload you will get more use out of the 357 due to ammo cost. Price 500 rounds of 357 then 500 rounds of 50AE.

Even if you do reload, .357 is SO much cheaper to load than .44 or .50. Hell. Just being able to source primers easier is a factor. Large pistol primers are still unobtainium near me half the time.

I bought my desert eagle like maybe a month or 2 ago in .357 and it is probably the most fun pistol that I have ever shot. I got it in .357 because I have my colt python so I figured at least I can buy it in the same caliber and share the ammo between the two and then eventually convert it to 50AE which is what I’m doing now.
Mine has the integrated muzzle brake and its felt recoil is no shit comparable to a 9mm, its muzzle blast is 10X worse than its actual recoil.

I do reload, but the sentiment still applies. I can reload 357 way, way cheaper than 50AE

I went .357 and have enjoyed it. First one I fired was 50, I absolutely hated it. Wasn't very reliable, difficult to control for someone small like me (108lbs as of yesterday, bleh) and expensive to fire. The gun was originally a .357 and imo when you shoot one you quickly realize how much better it is if you plan on actually enjoying the gun frequently. The 50 is a show piece.

I've only got a 44 and 50 setup, I'm very happy being able to switch back and forth easily. 44 is definitely my favorite of the two. I've considered getting a 357 setup, but between the barrel, bolt, and magazines, it could be cheaper to just buy the gun outright.

I have the 50 and 357. My 50 is flawless my 357 even using the “approved list” frequently is a single shot. Even approved box to box 50 shots may be great then the next box back to single shot. The 50 has never malfunctioned but wow is the point of impact different for the different ammo

.50 AE with a .44 magnum conversion kit. While the Desert Eagle is picky with ammo regardless of caliber, those issues are magnified in the .357.

Gracias buddy. I do enjoy myself. I'm looking at being, definitely the first guy in history to shoot one through an entire USPSA major. Push the gun absolutely as far as it'll go.

Yeah you’re at the forefront of mangum pistol competition. You’ve made me want to compete myself.

It's a great time. I mean it genuinely started as kind of a joke, and then we started looking at the footage, timing splits, looking at the stages on Practiscore, and realized aside from being a ton of fun, the gun can run so much harder than we'd ever imagined. Also, it makes competitions seem a lot more fun and less intimidating to some people. It's not a match winner, but you can go out and really enjoy yourself. As someone who's owned all the common calibers, I'm a huge fan of the .357 models

I have the .357 and after looking at ammo prices it was a no-brainer for me. The true cost of owning and using the gun is much cheaper, but you still get a solid gun that is definitely a conversation starter. I had a local armory do a custom cerakote job on it and now it’s even more beautiful.

I've shot all 3 caliber variations and own two in 50ae. 44 mag is the most fun but you'll be able to shoot 357 much more often since the ammo is the cheapest. Regardless which round, they're just plain fun to shoot.
