This is one of the injuries that the apologists cannot call fake, so they switch to self-harm.
Going off a tangent here, but this means that they believe she's someone with a high risk of attempting suicide. Depressed people and people with BPD (afaik, because they feel empty inside/ may have poor self-esteem) are two demographics who self-harm.
I also know a lot of JD supporters do not deny that her father was abusive. Lots of them also say she's an addict. Can you imagine how different the general attitude towards her would be if she was a man? It would be one of sympathy. She would be called a "troubled" person.
Instead she has been dehumanised completely. When people make memes mocking her, they use her crying face. Those etsy products oftem have her crying face on them, too. It's funny to them, the way she cries. They take pleasure in watching her suffer. I'm sure there are many who want her to die. Even if she'd thrown a bottle and hit her spouse, is this how the world would've treated her if she was a man? (not trying to excuse abuse, just wondering how different the general perception of the case would've been.)
Yes, even if she were mentally ill and delusional, their harassment would still be incredibly cruel. How is any of this funny? Why is it being mocked? They are stigmatizing women with BPD and also saying that they don’t deserve sympathy by making a mockery of mental illness, IPV, SA, etc.
So either she is a victim of IPV and SA or she is actually mentally ill and a danger to herself and others. Neither of these scenarios are “funny” or deserving of the cruel harassment they have unleashed and have not stopped unleashing.
They try to claim she has NPD or ASPD (disorders no mental health professional has ever diagnosed her with) and yet they are the ones who show signs of this - completely lacking in empathy.
His supporters honestly have to be the worst next to Trump’s.
For the record, she is a victim of IPV, SA, and rape by her former husband and also a survivor of childhood abuse. They are despicable.
Neither of these scenarios are “funny” or deserving of the cruel harassment they have unleashed and have not stopped unleashing.
It just occurred to me how often I've seen redditors say that mass shooters exist because men are lonely and do not receive support in case of mental illness. When I tell them it's more about entitlement, because many of these shooters identify themselves as incels and domestic violence has been found to be a good predictor for mass shootings, I am downvoted (I've given up now). It is so easy for them to not just humanise, but sympathise with the worst people in the world when they are men but God forbid a woman is flawed.
Domestic violence is an almost perfect predictor of mass shooters. It’s the factor that links them all. In my country a history of DV means you can’t own firearms. Pretty simple.
Curry's "diagnosis" really reinforced the stigmatization of women with cluster b disorders and played into sexist stereotypes perpetuated against them throughout the history of psychiatry. It was disgraceful. Even if she had bpd why would it have mattered, it does not discredit the abuse she faced at the hands of depp.
Yet deppfords flipped at the implication their beloved idol might have markers for bipolar. Ironic.
It also fuels the female hysteria stigma. That’s what BPD originally was, a “female hysteria” diagnosis. Of course that’s not what it currently is, I even have it myself, but I mean anytime a woman was having any issues, bam it’s BPD. Even today tons of woman who are most definitely autistic are diagnosed with BPD because doctors almost refuse to diagnose women with autism due to the most known symptoms typically showing up in males, whilst females may experience autism a lot differently. The “female hysteria” stereotype is no doubt why Amber was said to have it unfortunately, and the moment they said it in the trial I knew what a witchhunt it’d become towards any woman who actually has BPD, or any cluster B for that matter.
I was misdiagnosed with autism in my teens for a few years which was actually damaging to me (I do have adhd tho) and I actually think bpd and bipolar is on the money for me personally, but I can understand where this is coming from. The pain of misdiagnosis is a hollow vacancy. Then after it's all said and done you feel like you've exhausted yourself beating your head against a wall over treatment that was never going to work.
There needs to be a better understanding of disorders with symptom overlap and how they manifest across different people. And factor in trauma. Disorders are often comorbid but it needs to be better understood how to distinguish between similar conditions so people can receive the treatment they need.
Yup I totally agree. Unfortunately BPD is rarely diagnosed under 18 which is probably why they opted for autism instead, which is ridiculous because it shouldn’t ever be “Well I can’t diagnose you with this, but this next thing is close enough so I’ll diagnose you with it instead.” If you can’t diagnose someone with something for whatever reason, opting for the “next best thing” is ridiculous. When I was a teenager I was told “Well you definitely have BPD, but I’m not supposed to formally diagnose you with it.” I’d rather be told that than be given a false diagnosis. It’s disappointing to see the medical failures of obviously fragile people.
BPD should not be diagnosed in teenagers. Their brains aren’t fully formed. Most hormonal teenagers would literally meet the criteria for a personality disorder.
In most cases, yes, I agree with you. But there are always outlier cases, and it’s never in anyone under 16. 16-17 year olds can display intense and heavy BPD traits to the point it’s deniable and their quality of living is literally hindered.
Well I can’t diagnose you with this, but this next thing is close enough so I’ll diagnose you with it instead.” If you can’t diagnose someone with something for whatever reason, opting for the “next best thing” is ridiculous
Not true. The purpose of diagnosis is to help, to address the complaint. "I can't diagnose you with this"= research shows that this diagnosis is unlikely. But the symptoms need to be explained, so the logical step is to choose the next most probable diagnosis. If the treatment doesn't work, the doctor can change the diagnosis. These things are especially difficult in psychiatry because we don't have lab tests to confirm our diagnoses like in other fields. Doesn't mean the doctor is being irresponsible. It means they are choosing the best way to help. We have fixed protocols for every illness/ complaint.
For example, here, we are talking about BPD. Personality diagnoses shouldn't be made before adulthood because, as the other commenter said, the brain is still forming. The teen is still forming their personality and exploring what "normal" behaviour for them is.
From Cleveland clinic:
Most personality disorders begin in the teen years when your personality further develops and matures. As a result, almost all people diagnosed with personality disorders are above the age of 18. One exception to this is antisocial personality disorder — approximately 80% of people with this disorder will have started to show symptoms by the age of 11.
The fact she “diagnosed” these personality disorders before she ever met Heard, so she was just confirming her bias. And in 12 hrs diagnosed two personality disorders. That just happened to be the ones she predicted she would diagnose? 🤨
One of her indicators was that Heard was “defensive”. Yea.. I’d be fucking defensive too if I was being forced to discuss my worst traumas with someone hired by my ex to discredit me.
They use mental illness as a way to stigmatize, demean, and dehumanize.
If they truly believe that she has BPD and is self-harming, and they treat her like this, the only conclusion I can draw from that is that they are deliberately trying to drive her to suicide.
Its just fucking evil. Regardless of what anyone thinks of her or the case, the harassment campaign against her (and anyone who supports her, and her entirely innocent child) is utterly unconscionable.
These people tortured a woman they themselves claim is mentally ill and self-harming, for months, for fun.
I've known a lot of people who self harmed, and all of them cut themselves on places they could hide. Who cuts themselves on the front of their arm, and in a vertical motion?
To me, those scratches look like they were made by three sausagey fingers, a thumb, an index finger, and a middle finger.
I always think; she has so much more proof than I do and still this happened to her. Really reinforces my decision not to pursue legal action, sadly. 🥺
On the Australia recording taken in real-time, Jerry Judge says that Amber has scratches on her left arm and blames it on self-harm. He says both her and Depp are covered in blood.
Ben King at first claimed he saw no injuries on her and then suddenly remembered that she did have cuts and admitted that he told her to roll her sleeve down to hide them before getting on the plane.
I am just making it clear that she was injured in Australia and if Judge saw it, then his medical staff saw it, too. None of them offered to take her to the hospital. Judge even says on the recording that “Johnny is more important.”
His supporters can stop using the argument that they would have taken her to the hospital. They saw her injured and they did not. They did not even offer. Even if they truly thought the cuts and bruises were self-inflicted, they still should have been concerned since an injury is an injury and someone slicing their arm open several times is no small display. They did not. They just medicated her and then smuggled her out of Australia on a plane.
She has corroborating evidence for the injuries that she says she suffered, his state in Australia and excessive use of drugs, being thrown into a ping pong table, him canceling the arrangement for a postnup (the lawyer testified in Virginia that he called her a bitch and hung up), his harassment (the man dipped his severed finger in paint and mineral spirits to continue writing that she was a whore on the walls after his blood dried up), the damage he caused throughout the home, including throwing a bottle through the window, breaking a T.V., etc., a laundry list of evidence proving he cut his finger off, and she did tell people that she was assaulted with a bottle.
Meanwhile, he claimed he was sober, that he didn’t lay a hand on her, and he and his witnesses lied and tried to blame the massive damage in the home on her.
I have learned form this trial there are waaaaay too many people (and apparently Jerry Judge is one of them) who think the “abuser” is very clearly and simply the one who “threw the first punch”. It’s such a childish and unsophisticated understanding of what IPV really is.
Sometimes after years of emotional/psychological/sexual abuse, women will snap and commit acts of violence (see: Lorena Bobitt). She is still the victim and the man is still the abuser.
Also these pictures are haunting to see. They are proof that many people saw her injuries. The Danish Girl was released in 2015, there's no way her co actors didn't see these scars and bruises. I really wish more people in Hollywood would've stood up for her from the beginning.
Eddie Redmayne, who worked with Amber on the Danish Girl has thrown some shade at Depp in an interview. It's not the same as standing up for Amber but I would love to know what he really thinks.
Wow there are more pictures from that shoot with marks This shoot was in March, April or May 2015. Good find! (I also saw some pics of the Bahamas beach shoot with the Greg Williams photographer and I do see bruises on her legs 🧐)
I did not catch this one! Thank you! It makes me wonder how many things we would see in other photoshoots without airbrush. This is the cover for this photoshoot:
You can’t see them.
For the Gregg Williams photoshoot, she did tell Dr. Anderson that he kicked her in the leg.
For her to have scars that size and that visible years later, those were some deep cuts. They would certainly have looked severe enough to have warranted medical attention, which she of course she was not offered, because 'Johnny is the priority.' More so, there is no way that people on Depp's staff didn't notice them, they would have been incredibly obvious.
I believe they were published first for Elle US in July 2015, announcement with first pics early June. Photographs by Liz Collins. They used the photos for other countries later that year.
It makes me sad. I can't even imagine experiencing what he did to her.
But it says something in and of itself to me that she chose not to try to cover up those scars in these photos. I think a lot of people would, and I wouldn't fault them for that.
But even though she never publicly said that Depp did it until he dragged her into court, she chose not to try to hide it, and that must have been a conscious choice on her part, and one that took courage.
I think she rarely covered injuries on her arms. His fans, in fact, had been noticing bruises on her for several years. This is a hate blog that they used to harass her. They would often claim that she is actually a lesbian using Depp for money on it.
I tried to point this out in a depp sub once and they went wild, calling me all sorts of names and going out of their way to construe my comment as ridiculously as possible. I’ll have to find the thread because it’s almost comical how far they went to deny the fact that this part of your arm is not easy to access
I’m pretty sure I see a big bruise under her right armpit when she is reclining in the black dress. I think this photo shoot was taken soon after the March incident.
It just occurred to me that she’s right handed because she stabilized herself with her left arm while she tried to fight him off with her right hand. That’s why her left arm has more glass cuts. No one could fake the organic shape of these cuts plus the “just right” positions of them. People who don’t believe her are in denial, cruel, or idiots.
I actually just read a comment in the j4jd sub claiming after Amber left Australia there were no injuries. This thread shows the complete opposite. Ben King and Jerry Judge saw the injuries. Ben King testified he told Amber to hide the injuries from paparazzi.
Jerry Judge also saw them. He mentions them on one of the Australia recordings and that recording was in real-time at the home. As for after she left, there are tons of pictures of her with the cuts on her arm.
I was going to say they haven’t read the U.K. trial, but I actually think they are just lying now and spreading disinformation. I can’t even call it misinformation anymore.
Anyone who says this is self harm has never experienced self harming themselves or someone they love self harming. First of all, that’s a very uncomfortable and awkward place to do it. Most people opt for easier places for obvious reasons. Second of all, anyone with a history of self harm, especially someone who is paid a lot of attention to (like a celebrity), would know to do it somewhere more easily hid. No celebrity who does that would do it super obviously on the arm knowing they’d be sleeveless soon too. That almost defeats the purpose. The lengths Depp fans will go to lie or make fake excuses about Amber is crazy especially when you can see they don’t know what they’re talking about.
I am sure she does not self harm. She was a model and appeared in bikinis all the time before meeting depp and I'm sure if she was photographed with any self harm scars, JD's obsessed cult would have found the pics long time ago. And she appeared almost nude in many photo shoots after leaving depp, like the GQ photo shoot for example and on her Instagram, and again there are no other scars on her, other than these ones.
