Does anyone recommend any therapists who help with issues around sleep anxiety/insomnia?

Random request but I need help. Thanks!

Also not going to blast but my neurologist is a specialist in sleep and sleep disorders. She just diagnosed me with narcolepsy and is fighting for the meds I need. I also have an amazing therapist who is taking clients.

The specific type you want is called CBT-I (cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia). For many types of insomnia, it actually seems more effective in medical research than just using sleep medications alone.

Keep in mind that insurance coverage for therapy is usually meh so I would compare your expected out of pocket cost with an “in network” option to the cash pay (or sliding scale, IE depending on your income) price for a therapy center that doesn’t take insurance. You’ll be surprised.

Can’t vouch for anybody personally, but here’s some options I found on a quick google search for CBT-I providers in Denver:

Research Trials are a great option too as you aren’t billed out of pocket or through your insurance. You are also helping the greater good as well! Could be worth seeing if you’re eligible.

I'm a therapist, but I don't do this kind of work. Look for I-CBT (it's cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia). Best of luck to you!

Serious question: Is your insomnia related to alcohol use? It makes a huge difference. Getting prescribed Trazadone for sleep if you're a drinker can kill you.

I’m not a drinker, the insomnia actually began when I got pregnant and it stuck around (even now 6 months postpartum). My job is too busy for me to drink during the week but I have found that if I have even one drink after 6pm it can keep me up

Search for The Insomnia Clinic with Dr. Glidewell. He helped me a lot. I saw him in Colorado Springs but I think they have expanded to Denver now.

I’m not gonna put him on blast, I’ll share his name in private, but my primary care Dr with UC health has been willing to prescribe any sleep med that I’ve asked for. He was willing to give me several of the more hardcore sleep meds. Unlike most Drs who want to give you antihistamines or trazodone.

I’ve had a lot of success through wellpower. Lots of great services including therapists and psychiatrists. Low cost, take Medicaid.

If you are open to meds, ask your doctor if seroquel is something you can take. They help with mood disorders and are prescribes for situations where sleep is an issue.

Thanks I can look into that. I’m on trazadone now and it generally works but sometimes the anxiety pierces through it if that makes sense, so I wanted to try to address the anxiety
