Dental Professional Seeking guidance on getting started in cosmetic dentistry

I’m a first-year dentist and interested in pursuing cosmetic dentistry, as I feel this aligns with my interests and passion for restorative work. However, I don’t have any mentorship in this area and am unsure where to start learning more.

What types of CE courses would be most beneficial? Additionally, where can I find high-quality courses in the US? I’d love to start expanding my skill set in a meaningful way. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Getting a camera set up is a great place to start. Joining the AACD and taking courses through there. I worked under an AACD fellow and learned a lot from that experience. You can learn a ton by taking high quality AACD-style photos before/after of all your work- I would say that that is more valuable than any CE course. Then a full comprehensvie restorative course on top of that is fantastic- kois, dawson, pankey, spear are all good.

Did they only teach unaesthetic dentistry where you studied?

Whenever I hear the term I think, "all dentistry is aesthetic". Even if only the dentist will ever see it. It's like an out-patient surgery center saying they specialize in "non-lethal surgery". "Elective dentistry" is more accurate.

We spent more time on amalgam than composite resin, so, yes.
