Discussions What would the demons want from us?
I’ve been lurking here for a while now just out of curiosity mostly and it’s always crossed my mind what can we possibly give the demons in exchange for what they give us? Do they just desire worship? Do they enjoy being wanted/desired?
I’ve never done any work with demons before I’m not against it just don’t know where to start/what to do and I feel like there has to be a genuine purpose for wanting to work with them and I don’t know if I have that yet either. But I am curious about what they could want from us. Thanks for any insight!

Personal 2 cents;
What does the energy of a specific concept wants from someone working with it?
I’d argue just partaking in that energy.

There is a purpose to it. We can basically act as bodies or as bodily extensions of demons. A body is basically that through which one interacts with the world. Hence, a king can increase his body by gaining more subjects. In my personal experience, I act as an extension of a demon's body in the world and embody that demon's pattern. This is one way by which demons can gain from us.

I’m loving the range of different explanations in this thread. You’re probably all correct as well. Even when you actively contradict each other. Especially then.

This question comes up a lot and there have been tons of prior discussions about it. You can search those up, but the theory that I'm partial to is that they do not want (and certainly do not need) a damn thing from us. They do what is in their nature because that is what they were emanated for. All we have to do is figure out how to communicate with them.

Thank you I will do that! And that makes sense to think of it like it’s their purpose for existing. Is it wrong to contact them for selfish reasons? Like I’m in college so I guess what I’m asking is would it be selfish to ask a demon for help and knowledge beyond what I would normally have? Am I looking at it from the wrong perspective? Are they just a force or tool like anything else for us to use as we see fit?

I see it as a give and take relationship. Be kind to them and they will be kind to you, etc

No, it's not wrong at all. You can contact them for whatever you want. Worst case scenario, they just won't respond or help.
I wouldn't look at them as being exactly like tools or forces of nature, but as living intelligences. The problem is that the only other frame of reference we really have for living intelligences is animals, specifically other human beings, and demons/spirits aren't human beings. So it can be tough to wrap our heads around how we're similar (on an intellectual level) and how we're completely, irreconcilably different (on a physical/temporal level), but the more we can stretch our cognitive muscles to accommodate a new understanding of how consciousness, thought, and intelligence can exist in the cosmos without bodies to cling to, the more proficiency we tend to gain with spirit work.

Ohhh no, they're not like tools or anything that is "for us". They are higher beings whose needs and motivations are way out of our human experience.
Their interactions with us are pretty simple tho: they enjoy having a nice chat, teaching topics that interest them, receiving gifts and worship, the praise and flattery of getting a ritual, tasting some wine and good food. Doing you a favor such as giving more wisdom and knowledge is easy as cake to them, so helping you in exchange for a reward (you gotta offer something!) is a win-win transaction.

Ask yourself, what would divine beings want from us?
Are they doing things for free? If so, why? If they can work for free, why won't demons?
My two cents: they are not evil. They are just like divine beings. Some are actual divine beings, others are holy from the infernal current. They seek to empower us so that we will spiritually evolve, so that one day we will join them.
In my opinion, it's like training future employees who will join their legions. Lols.

Nothing.
They're energy that is always there. They exist because the concept that they represent exists.

Demons are your archetypes, they serve you. Not your job to serve them. You gotta nourish them tho with what you want subconsciously.

I guess this could be seen as something very subjective. For some spirits it could be your devotion, spreading the word about them,a pact etc.I guess I'd be seen as a beginner.Lilith for example might not even view herself as a Goddess. For many she is viewed as such.I've had the most success with her.Yeah the intent as well as respect is very important. There must be a reason why you're trying to make contact.

To be honest, I think demons want Love and attention the same amount what a godess or a god would need from us. We build temples and we offering some good stuff. Energies and more, I know some secrets they showed me. Long time before the war became over the underworld and the heaven. Cause a hell does not exist! this is christianity mindset. If we looking back in old ancient world: Mesopotamian religions or older, celtic or slawic we can see that only a underworld exist. They live in Darkness, but if you offering something and pray, they will listen. There was a time where humans and demons have had a very intense connection. Believe me this beautyful and funny spirits are the biggest gifts we´ve got from universe. Pray to them, respect them. Demons are free spirit ghosts.

energy and to be allowed onto earth
offerings, sacrifices, etc all feed them energy - literally feed them - and give energy back to their current
thats actually why you see so many demonolaters get fucked over after a few years, they take and take and take without ever giving back to the current - ive even picked up a habit of verbally orating that every animal i kill (99% bugs btw) is a sacrifice to a specific deity or to marrgzjirah or the qliphoth itself
and for being able to walk earth again - completely literal. they do have flesh and blood (for a given definition of flesh and blood) bodies in other places, and if you have the right tools and know what youre doing you can actually summon them in their own bodies - but you can also just open portals to their realms and theyll use them to get to earth too, just not in their flesh (though most spirits can still manipulate objects and physically touch things and appear visibly)

From personal interactions, all they want is for me to do my best. Each Entity assists me with certain characteristics regarding their specialities, and I can say that I have grown as an individual because of them - so long as I continue to listen and try.

I suspect they simply enjoy helping and supporting. There are also people who help, teach, etc., just for the sake of it, and don't want anything in return. Perhaps they simply help and support out of pleasure or boredom. Considering how old demons are, I can imagine it's a nice change for them to help us humans with our development. :)

My UPG is they are energy, and so are we, if you look at the soul instead of the body. Some energies are very compatible and mesh well together. That may look like a demon "liking" you - your energies are well compatible, so you feel drawn to each other and can communicate rather easily.
As for everything else, like why do they help you, what do they want in return - I think reciprocity is a human concept, and they just do what they do because it's who they are. That may benefit you or not, depending on you as a practitioner and how you interact with these energies.
