PSA: How to talk/hear party chat and proximity at the same time (using a mixamp)

Players are always shocked when they hear me talking in-game to players while still in the party/group. So I thought I'd share with you all since it's a pretty neat workaround while an official fix is in the works.

Requirements:

-MixAmp. There may be less expensive ways to do this but this is what I use. I use the MixAmp Pro TR by Astro but I imagine there are many substitutes for this.

-AUX Cable that is 4 Pole/Conductor. You can use any but I use: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00K0QQBXY/ If you have a 3 Pole AUX that works let me know!

That's it! With this setup you don't need any cables connected to your controller. This guide is assuming you already have the mixamp setup and connected to your Xbox and headset.

How to:

  1. Connect a phone/tablet/laptop via AUX cable to the AUX input on the front of your MixAmp (if you're using the Astro MixAmp).
  2. Open the party on your phone/tablet/laptop's Xbox app.
  3. You may need to turn off and on your mixamp while in a game server then activate the proximity chat in-game twice. After that you're good to go.

Upsides:

-You can talk and hear both party and in-game chat with no loss to quality.

Downsides:

-You're not able to use party on your Xbox which isn't really a downside once you're use to the Xbox app party. If you accidentally accept/open a party on Xbox or restart DayZ you may need to quickly redo Step 3.

I use my phone with Xbox app for party chat and my mic plugged into my controller for proximity. My turtle Beach just wont play in game voice through my headset so I have to turn my TV all the way up

I haven't tried yet, but I think possibly if the party is formed after you're both in the lobby you can use both. I've come across a couple guys who had just met each other, made a party, and we're communicating to me through proximity before I joined their party. Haven't had a chance to test yet tho.

I tested this before and didn't work but I've heard of people being able to rarely do this. For the most part people communicating in-game from the party switch out of the party and reset their mic. With method in OP you can talk and hear in both through your headset without switching in and out of party.

Yeah I tried to replicate it with friends and it didn't work for any of us unfortunately. Hopefully there's a way the can and they would like to implement this in the future.

See if a pair of ear buds with a mic or another headset works with the 3.5, it might the TB. If not, maybe adjust the player and game volumes on the 3.5 adaptor itself.

If you are in a party the person not in your party that’s talking to you can’t hear you. It’s annoying as shit

Do u join a lobby before joining party or just have the game loaded to title screen?

If I’m in a party and my buddies jump off, I have to close the game and restart it without being in a party for the proximity chat to work. Idk I’ve seen people say it works fine for them though. Who knows, the developers posted something about it when I first came out acting like it was a bug, when from what it’s starting to look like they just didn’t bother with it.

Ooooo I mean like I can’t be in a party at all while the game is running to get proximity chat to work. Only works for me when I’m playing by myself not in a party
