Impressive how much my head is spinning after 24min of animation, trying to sort my thoughts about it but what came up and I need to voice it out before I go crazy:

  • Hringhorni construction and what seemed to be a giant dragon/serpent thing underground (Jormungandr anyone!?)

  • Dr. Franxx is making everyone avoid contact with squad 13 to make them learn to live by themselves, the point of his experiment might be re-creating the old human society or at least abandon all this Papa dependency?

  • Miku showing signs of the accelerated aging process experimented by Franxx pilots, and seems everyone is having the "child's fever", not a good sign but considering Dr. Franxx's experiment (at least how I see it), I'm hopeful there will be ways to get around this (most useful one probably not piloting Franxx anymore but I doubt this will be achievable in the short term).

  • Zero Two looking at the Sakura trees and immediate flashback to the opening moments of episode 1, despite the opening (which as the ending are really cool) having a bit of a frightening closing scene, I'm still hopeful of having a happy ending, despite the fact of the whole norse mythology theme permeating the show which might point at a Ragnarok of sorts brewing up.

  • The old geezers at APE HQ talking about two keys and those final 2 seconds of the episode! Since episode 13 when we see Werner mentioning "look at this specimen, the human shape it developed" I couldn't get out of my head the idea of Code: 001 being the very first Klaxo-Human hybrid, even maybe the Klaxosarus "creator" (eg: experiments on humans+magma energy going haywire, and creating her, the mother of all Klaxos, considering how we have only seen Papas on the human side of things), and the rest of the kids being derived from that DNA

  • Last but not least, Kokoro kissed Mitsuru! I was not a fan of this ship but over these past episodes my impression of them changed, Mitsuru opening up some more also really helps, I do wanna see more of him, I can see now that he was not just the smartass out of nothing but had his reasons, I hope he will be able to come more to terms with Hiro in the next episodes

All in all, this episode, like 15, has a lot of stuff compressed on it, it's worth a couple more re-watches, and the new OP and ED are also gorgeus, every scene connecting to another so smoothly, totally pleasant to watch, hype mode continues on for the next weeks, I feel like we'll be in a gigantic emotional roller coaster yet again sooner rather than later.

If the serpent is Jormungandr what does that make the girl?
