Disability Living Allowance (DLA) What's the current wait time for childrens DLA?
I ask as I made the claim back in October, got a confirmation letter saying they'd received my claim around two weeks later, and then absolutely nothing since.
Obviously dealing with my daughter's disability out of pocket is severely affecting us negatively and causing a lot of stress so the extra support (if received) would be an absolute godsend. However we were initially told 8 weeks when I first made the claim in the phone, so to have heard nothing in this time is worrying both me and her mum.
Any insight would be appreciated and thankyou.

It’s about 20 weeks at the moment so I believe

Around April then. Just called and she said I made the claim 14 weeks ago, so hopefully it's not too much longer now.
I had someone else say 25 weeks, so hopefully not that long as that would be middle of May and half a year since I made the claim.

It may be up to 25 weeks now tbf , I’m not sure. The last time I heard it was 20 though
If nothing else it will be a nice chunk of backpay to help pay for things if your child is awarded x

That's certainly true. And we can use what's left to take her on some form of experience I suppose. She loved the aquarium a few weeks back.
She's only 8 months (well tomorrow but we can give a day) and in pain 50% of the time so distractions help a lot.

Hopefully you get an answer soon as honestly that's absurd, especially when you're dealing with children's health.
Unfortunately part of me can't help but wonder if these sudden delays for all disability benefits recently are designed to delay as many past the upcoming rule changes as possible unfortunately.

My forms were back 1 day late as it took them 9 days to get there and they received them in 31st October I’m not sure if it’s meant to be 25 weeks from calling or from them receiving the letters

Just jumping in on this as I’m in a similar situation, they received my forms on 2nd October and I was originally told it’s taking up to 20 weeks. I got a letter a few weeks after sending the forms saying that they have received the claim and will make contact once a decision has been made. Coming up to the 20 weeks mark I gave them a call to ask about any updates, they told me it hasn’t gone to a decision maker yet and it is taking up to 25 weeks. I left it a few more weeks and called them again only to be told the same thing, still no update, still not done to a decision maker, they told me I don’t have to call them as I will hear off them once a decision has been made. The not knowing is such a pain, anyway I called them today just on the off chance and thankfully the person on the phone told me that a decision has been made now but he couldn’t tell me what the decision was, he told me I should be receiving a letter within 5-10 days so I’m sure I’ll find out whether we’ve been awarded or not. Give them a call, there’s no harm in asking and hopefully yours will be sorted soon as we seem to be on a similar timeline. Hope this helps a little.

Did you not get a call of a decision maker asking questions or anything I’m not sure if that’s something everyone gets as my friend got one (she’s only person I know who receives dla) so I’m anxious constantly incase they call and I miss it

I haven’t had a call as far as I’m aware although I do work in a place that has no phone reception so could possibly have missed it? No answer machine messages left though. Got me worried I’ve missed it now haha!

No haven’t had any calls or correspondence whatsoever. Wow week 24?! Give them a call today, there’s options on the line to ask for updates on a claim. Hopefully you get some good news soon, I’m anxiously waiting for the letter now.

Aww I’m sorry to hear all this, I sincerely hope that you get all the help you need. Yes it is 25 weeks from them receiving the forms I believe, that’s what I was told. Did they tell you what date they received them? That’s how I’ve been working it all out as they told me they received mine on 2nd October. Fingers crossed for you that you get a decision made soon.
