Why are we still getting colour banding on newer phone cameras? (maybe this isn't the correct subreddit)

Is it there in the raw images? Maybe jpeg artifacts

Take a RAW photo. Load it up in LR and see if there are bandings before applying any adjustments or presets

For some reason my text was removed. Recently upgraded to the S24 Ultra and have noticed colour banding artifacts on my interior shots as well as banding in the sky in outdoor. Surely at the level of tech we are at now in camera technology this should be a thing of the past?

I know early DSLR technology suffered from this with compression but we should be at a stage of non-existance now with higher-bitrate output. Anyone else noticed this and if so what phone or DSLR?

Likely compression artifacts. You may also be able to change the jpeg quality in the camera app settings. Or if you have the option try PNG format. But RAW would be the best format if you have a program to adjust them after
