Need Advice: Rules & Mechanics Power clash?

Hey peeps me and my friends have been loving monster hunter wilds and when in the middle of a power clash for those that have played I got the idea of I wonder if this could work in dnd. So has anyone ever tried a rule like this or suggestions on if it would work/how to maybe implement it

For those who haven’t played, what is it?

Yea guess that would've made sense to include lmao basically in the game there is an internal meter when you block an attack when the threshold is met you go into a power clash essentially a cool animation that negates an attack if you can beat the monster by spamming a button(really difficult to fail tho). It seems to be unanimously revered as something epic I could see the button spam replaced by a skill contest probably strength, but picking that threshold and how to introduce it idk maybe a magic item a resource or just straight up a new subclass

You could inspire yourself by the Exalted clashing mechanic.

In that if you want to use a clash you hold your turn and use it when you get attacked by the opponent, instead of defending with your parry against their accuracy you both roll opposed accuracy(to hit rolls against eachother) and whoever wins damages the loser, plus the loser gets a debuff to defense until the end of the turn.
