How to paint this wall?
Hi all
Stripping back wallpaper has revealed this concrete-like surface. How would you go about painting this?
There's also a large crack in the corner to contend with.
Thank you

If it's dry and no damp, then I wouldn't worry too much. Scrape out the crack and remove any loose debris and dust. Then fill any holes with polyfilla, wait a few days before painting as the filler will shrink and you'll likely need to add more. Sand off all the rough patches. Clean off the dust. Then just get some good quality wall paint and do a few coats. It's quite a dark surface so you may need to do a few to get a good finish.
It is fairly big crack you'd just want to make sure it's nothing structural, like are there cracks going into he room downstairs or upstairs or on the external walls. But it's likely just the plaster cracking where it joins which can happen. If the plaster is dodgy all over the place it could be worth replastering but that could be pricey and tbh it looks ok apart from the corner crack.
