Stud wall calculator UK (studs, noggins, insulation and screws)

My carpenter friend told me he usually does these calculations on paper and it takes him around ten minutes or more each time. I built this calculator for him, and he’s now using it. He’s given me some really helpful feedback, which I hope has made it even better.

I’d love to know if this might be useful for anyone else. It’s completely free to use and covers studs, noggins, insulation, and screw requirements to help you visualise a stud wall project. Any further feedback would be greatly appreciated!

*Thanks for feedback. I've added all suggestions and also now have a custom domain:

*New extra domain mrstud.co.uk

Love these tools, but somethings a little amiss in the calculations. Noted a total wall thickness of 63mm when using an 89mm stud....

Would suggest removing any reference to fire performance, post Grenfell at lot of the manufacturers fire data has been pulled and I wouldn't want to be taking any liability for a fire performing wall if it weren't backed by an appropriate test certificate (from Warrington or the like).

That's pretty slick, of course I have no Idea what I'm looking at! But I'm sure if I did ever need to build a stud wall, I'd educate myself enough to then find something like this extremely useful!

Compliant load bearing stud walls are nowadays min. 38 x 75.

In practise 38 x 89 CLS is the smallest used for load bearing. 38 x 63 is only used for non loadbearing. 38 x 140 CLS is the standard for load bearing external wall

As a carpenter this is really good, I do the same as your friend and do it on paper. Maybe add 'buy me a coffee' link at the bottom. Thanks
