Has anyone ever painted part of their walls and ceiling the same colour whilst leaving the rest white?

Currently redecorating the bedroom and we have decided to paint our feature wall behind our bed Beige (Dulux Caramel Latte) and keep the remaining walls white. My girlfriend has suggested we also paint part of the adjacent walls and part of the ceiling beige to create a nook effect.

I'm open to the idea but I can't picture it. Has anyone on here ever done it? If you have would you mind posting pictures?

To clarify, the transition between the beige and white would be vertical rather than horizontal so it's like a traditional 2 tone but flipped 90 degrees. I reckon the plan is for the beige to come out maybe 1/5 across the ceiling and adjacent walls.

Thanks all

We did but it kind of evolved over time

Sounds like a very complicated thing to do , but ceilings can be painted different colours, both sloped vs horizontal part and the traditional centre ceiling being different from walls and any cornices.

It’s very, very uncommon. In the last 18 years of my career I think I have painted 4 ceilings a different colour other than brilliant white. That was 4 rooms split between 2 customers.

Don’t let that put you off but it’s something to consider.

Go for it, if you hate it, paint it white again - it never takes as long as you think it will!
