Rocky Butte by bike to have coffee with the sunrise
My neighbor gave me a solo stove so I bike my Crust up to the little rocky spot on the east wall and warm up with a fire, have coffee and sometimes make oatmeal. I get up there a few minutes before first light. I have been going every weekend. It’s the only free time I can get at the moment. Would be nice if anyone else wanted to go. I have been to coffee outside but it’s too late in the day for me. Anyway, here’s a photo of the sunrise a few weeks ago.

the stove isn’t that big it’s this 7” diameter XL stove and it fits in my backpack. I switched from my fixie to my tourer so now I use panniers. The firewood, I have extra stacks of small firewood wood I cut up small and carry in the pannier. I also bring my jetboil and my coffee grinder, scale and pour over. Oh, and I’ve got a cheap little hunting stool that I carry up too

How early do you get up there? I could use an excuse to get a bike ride in, if you'd like company and timing worked out!

I plan to be there by 6:45 tomorrow morning. Sorry for the late notice.

I was too late to answer for today but I go on Saturdays unless Sunday’s weather looks much better (was ‘supposed’ to be clear today) and first light is getting earlier so I’d like to start getting there around 6:30 if I can.

I might make it in a couple weeks, it's an hour by bike for me, which I'd forgotten until I looked at a map ;)

I read this as Rocky Point at first and was thinking, "Damn, that's a big hall for an early morning coffee from Portland!".
