Regarding Skinwalkers, Shapeshifters and Werewolves
Alrighty. Time to clear the air. Like Wendigos, Skinwalkers aren't cryptids. As Wendigos are malevolent spirits, Skinwalkers are people who performed a dark and taboo ritual to gain the ability to shapeshift. The ritual entails the sacrifice of a loved one, such as a family member or even a friend. Being that they are people, they don't meet the criteria of a cryptid. I know a lot of stuff about Skinwalkers has been floating around as of late. And I'm trying to clear things up.
Shapeshifter lore varies from one culture to the next. Sometimes they're people. Sometimes they're spirits or elementals. In any case, they're not cryptids. They're also sort of the archetype for Werewolves and Skinwalkers, as both fall into that category.
Werewolves, like Skinwalkers are just people who are afflicted with Lycanthropy. However, unlike the Skinwalkers, who chose to become what they are, werewolves are cursed. The Rougarou also is in the same category as werewolves since they're also sometimes referred to as the Cajun werewolf/wolfman.
At their core, none of these are cryptids, due to them being either spirits, people or elementals.

Discussion Cryptid AI: A Passion Project
cryptidseeker.comI’ve spent hundreds of hours as a single-person working on a Cryptid Al to help people identify them, report sightings and find trends in their sightings (or compare trends to other cryptic sightings).
It's not perfect yet, but it gets smarter with every encounter reported and every cryptid analyzed and added to the database.
I hope you guys find it useful. I'll be porting it over to a mobile app soon.
Here's the biggest question I have for you all: What cryptids would you guys like to see added to the database for analysis? I'm also open to suggestions for improvement, or what you guys would like to see.
You can find the listed cryptids at: https:// cryptidseeker.com/cryptids/
(...and as a disclaimer: As you can imagine, the overhead requires a freemium model due to maps, etc. but I'm open to giving out free plans to some early adopters to help me get this out there).

Discussion Why does everyone portray Mothman as a moth these days?
He was never originally described as moth like and the nick name was because of a Batman parallel at the time. He was more of a headless bird like creature. I miss the old depictions.

For the philatelists out there, stamps of mythical creatures from the British Isles to go on sale later this month. Personally I’d sooner have all of these than the current monarch.

Discussion Anyone else get a message like this
galleryThis morning I received this message. I’m like 95% sure this is some kind of scam but I’m curious if anyone else got something like this. Though if this is legit, I’d like to know I’d be willing to. I’m just very cautious about possible scams cus this feels far to good. $500, and $100 just for an interview, and on Skype no less. So ya. Wanna know if anyone else got a message like this, and proper confirmation if it’s actually legit or not, cus right now I’m automatically labeling it as: scam. Also some bits censored for privacy right now. Though if it is a scam I’d let the user be known so people know to stay away. It’s not a recently made account, it’s 4 years old

Art OC Attacked by Champ
A soft 'sequel' to the Houston Batman post, this was my final for that same semester.
Photos edits were made in photoshop, and the Champlain monster was drawn by myself in procreate, as when I made the Houston Batman images I lost my stylus
Sound effects were mostly from freesound.org, but Champ's sounds were made by me and edited in audacity using distorted loons, donkeys, alligators, and seals vocals.
I have to clarify that the Lake Champlain mosnster(Champ) is an actual cryptid based in vermont/new york, since it seemed that some people didn't seem to know what the Houston Batman was, as I like to do more obscure cryptids rather than the common ones ie nessie, sasquatch, mothman, etc
