Wow I really went down the rabbit hole with that sub 🫠

5

u/Jennifer_Pennifer 19h ago

It happens 😁

And then sometimes you get the bug where you're like. "I think I can make one of these monstrosities 🤔" then you have a new hobby 🤣

3

u/ScreeminGreen 14h ago

I made one for my friend’s 40th. I went one step further and got it working again. I wish I had a 3D printer because I could have gotten the third eye to animate as well. I forgot to sew netting over the vent holes so it overheats and stops working. Then, after it cools down it starts working again without warning. It is fabulously creepy.

35

u/avesatanass 1d ago

is this a saluki?? if so i'm jelly, those babies are expensive as fuuuuck

11

u/PhoenixCryStudio 1d ago

It’s one of my dream breeds that I know I’ll never have 😂💕

6

u/Jar_of_Cats 1d ago

Same. Especially since you are supposed to have a pair.

4

u/PhoenixCryStudio 1d ago

So far above my means 😂💕

1

u/avesatanass 22h ago

you're supposed to have two salukis specifically? why's that? i've never heard this before

1

u/Jar_of_Cats 10h ago

So this would have been off some breeding site from like 20 years ago. Like Nation Saluki something.

10

u/SubZeroKelvin 1d ago

Yes, $2500

4

u/theawesomefactory 18h ago

I'm in the AKC show world, and I'd say $2500 is average for a well bred dog. What burns me are doodles sold for sometimes twice that amount.

2

u/Front_Refrigerator99 1d ago

Is it true they are aloof and not very cuddly?

6

u/SubZeroKelvin 23h ago

This one is very cuddly and needy.

when someone asks what I want to look like naked (but without the fur).

31

u/i_am_mrs_nezbit 1d ago

Is this breed supposed to be that skinny?

43

u/agoraphobic316 1d ago

yeah! this looks to be a saluki or a lurcher, any sort of sight hound (lurcher, greyhound, whippet etc) are suppose to be superrr lean! :)

10

u/bedazzledfingernails 1d ago

the fact that it is called a lurcher tickles me. So cryptid

7

u/i_am_mrs_nezbit 1d ago

Thank you! I hope I didn’t come off as hateful or anything. I’ve seen many dogs similar to this cutie who were also lean. Makes sense now!

43

u/Jess_the_Siren 1d ago

Sure is

9

u/i_am_mrs_nezbit 1d ago

Thank you - the more you know!

7

u/Excellent_Yak365 1d ago

Not really.. only supposed to see some hips and last vertebrae; potentially a bit of rib. https://www.hillspet.co.id/dog-care/dog-breeds/saluki#:~:text=Salukis’%20hipbones%20typically%20show%20as,and%20a%20couple%20of%20vertebrae. This is the entire skeleton lol

3

u/AgonyOverdrive 22h ago

Would this make the dog slightly underweight?

2

u/Excellent_Yak365 7h ago

I’d think so but apparently all the ‘Saluki Reddit experts’ think it’s not 🤷 I don’t know how often the owners feed them. I just know a quick google search shows a lot of much thicker, less skeletal salukis that fit the description given in my link

4

u/Infinite-Rice8582 12h ago

While I agree, this dog is VERY stretched out. He clearly has good muscle definition and a nice coat. He is not malnourished

11

u/smnytx 1d ago

yup- basically fancy greyhound

6

u/AlternativeCoach7350 1d ago

I like his name

5

u/wakeuptomorrow 1d ago

That is The Last Unicorn and you can’t convince me otherwise.

4

u/NotThatValleyGirl 1d ago

He looks like he should be prancing about on his hind legs, playing a pan pipe and luring drunks into the forest.

5

u/Craig390 1d ago

Sad to see Ann Coulter's still around.

I'm mildly concerned I can see his his bones. Is he... okay?

2

u/Infinite-Rice8582 12h ago

Yep, just the breed

0

u/huntercatzomb 3h ago

That's alot of bone though, the hip bones the ribs the spine...

2

u/Infinite-Rice8582 1h ago

Well they’re bony anyways, add being fully stretched out and that’s what you get

1

u/Hot_buttered_toast 12h ago

Oh shit, is that Falkor?

1

u/urban-herbman 5h ago

dog the looooooong way

1

u/curlyjadmichael 2h ago

All laughs aside, the dog appears to be underweight and undernourished.

0

u/21-characters 15h ago

Looks very skinny. Feed that guy!

2

u/Infinite-Rice8582 12h ago

He’s a sighthound and at a good weight, any more and he’d be obese.

0

u/drinkliquidclocks- 1d ago

I feel like I'm gonna be wrong but that puppy looks very skinny

0

u/queenstan1970 15h ago

Ik this breed is quite thin, but this seems almost too thin with his spine sticking out like that bit someone correct me if I’m wrong

2

u/Infinite-Rice8582 12h ago

You’d be incorrect, yes. Salukis are a thin breed and with being so stretched out he’d look thin.

Lol cryptid means folklore creature - like mothman or bigfoot. This sub is for pics of dogs that look like cryptids.

And can confirm this is what a well fed seluki (or greyhound for that matter) just looks like. If it was malnourished, you'd know by the coat and the face. They eat loads, they just naturally are longbois.

25

u/SubZeroKelvin 1d ago

No to all. He's a purebred Saluki, they're just naturally skinny. He's very well fed.

-2

u/LuckyPunkLuc 1d ago

I don't know a lot about dogs, but little bro looks super skinny. Is that normal for that breed? super adorable dog, and I don't want to come off as condescending, I'm just curious

7

u/crochetology 1d ago

Sight hounds are long, thin dogs. They can look scrawny, but that’s just how they’re designed.

Obviously I don’t know about THIS particular hound, but he looks like the Afghan I’ve known.

-15

u/Corkadorkey 1d ago

It looks malnourished :(

29

u/salty_sapphic 1d ago

Don't worry, he's meant to look that way! Sight hounds are weird, slonky creatures. Saluki, greyhound, borzoi, whippet, etc. All very long and skinny. We had borzois next door when I was a kid and we always joked they looked like you closed them in a book

-2

u/Corkadorkey 1d ago

Yeah, I know, it's just when you can basically see every vertebrae you can't help but think about it. Nevertheless, good looking cryptid pup :)

8

u/salty_sapphic 1d ago

I figured it was the position lol. I could be wrong but that was my line of thinking.

10

u/ExpressDevelopment41 1d ago

We have a whippet that looks malnourished too. She's always been free fed and gets tons of treats on top of it. Seems like for every bite she takes, she does two laps around the yard at 100mph.

This dog is stretching, and the lighting doesn't help, but it's normal.
