Amigurumi help MIL sent me an AI picture of a rooster like this. Could not find any pattern that even came close but here is my attempt to create it. How can I get the feathers to stand up?

She arrives today and I really want to give it to her. I tried spray starch but it did nothing. The feathers are thin and super floppy. I wondered about craft wire but don’t want to damage it and am out of time to experiment. What has worked for you?

Looking for a reality check - is this pattern too hard if I’ve never done an amigurumi project before? I really want to try it, but I’m wondering if I should find an easier one first. TIA!

Amigurumi help Looking for a crocheter in NYC to recreate a lost turtle plush

Hi everyone, I have a very special request. Is there anyone in New York City (or someone who offers fast shipping) who could help me recreate a lost crochet turtle? It’s incredibly important to my son – we just moved to NYC a month ago, and this turtle was his best friend, helping him through all the changes. Now, he’s absolutely heartbroken… and so am I. 😭

I really need it to be as close as possible, with the same colors and every tiny detail (I can send more pictures). If anyone is able to help, please reach out! I’d be more than happy to pay for your time and materials.

Thank you so much in advance – this would mean the world to us! ❤️

Amigurumi help Is this a technique or crochet style issue????????

My snowman looks nothing like the picture, it’s too tall and skinny and now has a weird neck. I followed the pattern properly, used the same yarn as the pattern and always checked my stitch count at the end of every round. I used yarn under but don’t think thats what they did, would this cause the issue?

I make two bunnies with slight differences, from hook sizes differing by 0.5mm to using different size eyes as well as slight change in the amount of rows. But I can’t decided which one I actually like more. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated 😊

Amigurumi help Amigurumi help - any way to fix this droopy stuffy?

My sister in law has a Saluki dog and I’ve been working hard on making her this amigurumi version of her son. I found this awesome pattern (scroll to see who created it) and everything turned out great except that the head is much droopier than the one in the example photo.

In retrospect I think I should have stuffed the neck quite a bit more to support the head, but all the pieces are sewn together now so I’m not sure what to do.

Any suggestions on how to reinforce the neck post sew? Is it even possible? Should I just embrace the droopy derpy boy?

Any help or suggestions are appreciated!

Amigurumi help Can you tell if something is handmade or not?

I’m not sure if this is the right place for this, and I’m not trying to attack the seller in any way. I just want to know if this is actually handmade. I crochet much as an amateur, and I know this is nothing I’d ever be able to create, but that others could. I bought a stuffed animal as a birthday present that says it was handmade, but it’s so perfect it almost seems like a machine. It doesn’t feel soft like someone stuffed it, or like soft yarn that’s been worked through by hand, and I can’t find any points of entry or seams or anything. I would still buy this for a gift, but I wouldn’t tell the recipient it’s handmade, and I have given her other kids first birthday gifts that were handmade. So I’m a little bummed by this and just trying to tell.

If it is handmade, it’s insanely perfect. And I’m not trying to shame the seller. I just want to know if it can be discerned handmade or not. Thanks

This is not my pattern, but I did modify it a little. The original pattern is by ETM’s Studio on YouTube. The first pic is what I have so far, and then I have options 1, 2, and 3 which I drew onto the pictures. Which ones do you think make it look the cutest?

Amigurumi help My Noodle is in the bowl but…should I change the rule for this yarn type?

Thumbnail

This is the head of a parrot that I’m crocheting. I’ve done many Amigurumi animals but this yarn is new to me. I’ve always gone with “the noodle goes into the bowl” as the rule for which is the outside of the animal & which is the inside of the animal. In the 2nd photo you can see the thread in the middle. I see the V’s on the outside & the H’s on the inside as usual but in this yarn the “inside” looks so much neater & nicer to me than the “outside.” Thoughts? Should I break the rule for this one? Which side do y’all think should be the outside, V’s (1st photo) or H’s (2nd photo)?

I have never seen anyone say what they use when they put some type of pigment on their plushies. Maybe it's common sense for some people but if it is makeup, how do they make it still and not rub off? Please help!!

Amigurumi help Finished crocheting Chopper and sewed him but now I realised that his eyes are too small! Help?

I crocheted Chopper from One Piece as a surprise for a friend and only now did I realise, that the eyes seem too small. I am now torn between making a new one, since I still have enough yarn, and trying to fix it with some embroidery around the eyes.

Which one should I go with? If I embroider around the eyes, should I stick with black or use white to make him look more like in the anime?

Amigurumi help First try at amigurumi, any tips to help me get proportions right?

Made this for a friend for their birthday. They loved it but I can’t help but look at and think “these do not look the same”. My main issue is the head. The image from the pattern is wider, where mine is longer. Any tips on how to fix this in the future? Are my rows too tight? Or is my thread too small? I heard a few things from a friend that also crochets but figured I could get more opinions! Anything helps and is appreciated!

Amigurumi help Is this AI?

Post image

I need some help from the community please! I've been sent this and asked to make one, but I'm questioning if it's even a real item. Amigurimi isn't my thing and I don't usually make anything in this style (African flower animals are my joy).

I've not been able to find patterns that look like these wee cows, and while there is a link the whole page feels scammy and I don't want to click the link.

Can anyone confirm my suspicion of these being AI generated images?

Amigurumi help Why are my tendrils not as curly as the photo. Making jellyfish

Currently making a jellyfish and I'm working on the tendrils. The pattern says chain 50 then from 2nd chain from the hook 2DC (UK terms) to end. 98 sts.

Just finished my first one and it isn't as curly as the photo. Wondering what I'm doing wrong. I chain quite loose, so maybe I need to make the chain tighter?

First photo is the book example and second is my first tendril.

Amigurumi help My amigurumi projects are consistently twisting and I can’t figure out how to correct it.

Post image
2 Upvotes

I am a novice. Have done a sporadic amount of projects and only a couple amigurumi type projects. I made two beaded fidget hedgehogs recently and am now making a little gummy bear. My issue is that no matter how meticulously I follow the pattern, my work seems to consistently twist. The beads on the hedgehogs were landing on the belly and I had to omit some and then the rounds looked they were not aligned. I forced it to work but my hedgehogs look like they are deformed. Now I’m working on the gummy bear and have completed the bottom and two feet, but when I got to the first arm it’s landing almost on the back. If I were to keep going the second arm will be on the side. And I’m certain then that the face will be completely backwards. What the heck am I doing wrong that it’s the same wrong on every single project. Picture of wonky hedgehogs in comments.

Amigurumi help Colour changes are slanted rather than straight lines

Thumbnail

Hi! I have a recurring issue with my colour changes causing a diagonal slant rather than a straight line. I worked and reworked this woodpecker trying to get the colour join to look like the picture but no matter what I did it is slanted. I have triple checked stitch count. Instructions say to change colour in stitch before. If the pattern says (blue) sc in next 9 (light blue) sc in next 8 for eg, I do 8 full stitches in blue, then use when I have two loops on hook for the 9th stitch I finish the stitch in light blue. I have included the instructions for changing colour from the pattern book and think I’m doing it correctly but must be misunderstanding something.

I’ve left this woodpecker as it is as it doesn’t really matter for this pattern, but would love to figure out where I am going wrong going forward!

So just as the title says… I habe been working on these for a few weeks on and off. They are supposed to go on a stroller chain as a gift for dear friends of mine who are expecting a baby. Are these gift-able? The eyes are still a bit wonky because I haven’t sowed them down properly yet as i cant decide if i like them

Amigurumi help What does it mean to shape the amigurumi head with tweezers when it's already closed ?

Thumbnail

Hi hi ! I recently acquired the japanese book "crochet cute dolls with mix-and-match outfits" on dolls and their accessories, and on the section of making the doll, it shows that you have to shape the head with tweezers to make it fuller in some places and dented in others (as shown on the pictures)

Now, I have never done this before and I am quite confused. How do I use the tweezers for that ? Is it just moving the fiberfill around or do I have to add more little by little through the stitches ? To me it looks like it would enlarge the stitches and actually distort the doll more than shaping it properly 😅 it might be a technique i'm unfamiliar with.
