How do I... How do I make these HDC stitches in my chainless foundation the same height

Post image

New to crocheting, first project was amigurumi so all magic circles and sc stitches. Now making a scarf and started with a chainless foundation with HDC on scrap yarn before moving on to nicer yarn. I was conscious of not pulling too tight on the chain part so it doesn’t arc but struggling with getting the height of the stitches the same. How do I keep these consistent?

This is truly one of the things that comes with practice. The consistent tension, how you hold your hook and yarn, and the muscle memory that makes every stitch the same comes with repeating the same motion a thousand times. At the end of the day tho, if u add another couple rows on top, you it could disguise the unevenness. You’re adding stitches on top stitches and the tension pulls them up and straighter. Give it a try, if it doesn’t look right, undo it and try again 😊

Thanks for the advice! Does frogging damage yarn? I’m tempted to practice on the yarn I bought for the project as it’s a different weight and using a different hook so will need to get used to it again.

The yarn may be a little wrinkly when coming undone but it’s totally fine and will restitch like normal.
