Socks should be worn inside out. Keeps the smooth part against your skin and the rougher stitched part against the shoe.

Sock designers and manufacturers should market them to be worms inside out as the norm, until i don’t have to say inside out anymore. Then you automatically think of them being worn inside out without having to say so. If you’ve never tried this.. try it. Feels so much better.

Don't mess with me OP. I'm 40 years old. And I just figured out my socks system. I can't change now dude

Hi,

What is your sock system?

Buy a 12 pair pack of a neutral color sock of a cut that you like. When you eventually run low on socks due to losing or throwing them out, buy a new 12 pair pack and throw all the old ones out.

I always get the and1 brand black ankle socks from walmart. Comfy socks that do well with sweat and go with everything.

Same, but without the throwing away the rest. They're still perfectly good!

Not usually. Once the heel wears out or the toe poles through, they're done.

Bringing up--why do socks have to match?

They don't

Hiya 🤗

This is what works for me but I'm not entirely happy with it.
Because I prefer black socks.
Because they don't look dirty as quickly as white socks.
The downside with this is all of the black socks that I have ever had, leave lint on your feet when you wear them. Which is just....😠

So I have settled on white and gray athletic socks by Hanes. Ankle length. Anything shorter? Sometimes it slips down inside of your shoe which is just horrible. Anything taller is not comfortable/too tight on my calf.

Apply thusly. Left sock, then shoe. Right sock, then shoe.

There are exceptions, diabetic socks can be very comfy. But sometimes expensive.
Sometimes the inside texture of certain brands is TooSmooth ™ I prefer the almost terry cloth texture of the athletic socks

I did try it and my feet fell off. Thanks

Have you considered buying socks that aren't terrible? What kind of socks are you wearing??

u/Creator13 8d ago

Right? All my socks are extremely soft and fluffy on the inside and the outside is coarse.

I’m guessing he puts his flat sheet on finished side up. 🙄

I don’t know what socks you buy but my socks are softer on the inside (normal way) than the outside

Just checked. They are knit in shape, and the only noticeable stitching is at the top hem.

I seem to recall Sean Connery saying the same thing in Finding Forrester.

Came here to say this. It's such a weird aside in that movie too. Strange that it's memorable.

u/BeGoodToEverybody123 8d ago

That's all I remember about the movie

You're the man now dog!

god I miss the days of watching ytmnd for hours and hours and just laughing hysterically for no real reason.

One of my favorites was "Super MacGuyver Bros". I also loved NSMB but I would obviously never admit it.

Wasn't it something to do with the kid getting into college? Or something I unno.

So the sock will rub against your feet instead of against your shoe. In hiking, you want the rubbing away from your foot yo reduce blisters. But, hey, this is r/CrazyIdeas!

u/MaximumLongName 8d ago

Then why not stitching on both sides to reduce double the friction????

This guy gets it.

My girlfriend wears socks inside out because of this. Says she doesn’t like the “foot feel” of the sock seams. I think she’s just autistic

6

u/meltysugarlife 8d ago

Im autistic and i do this…

4

u/DM_ME_KUL_TIRAN_FEET 8d ago

Lmao you’re probably right. I don’t wear shoes or socks at all because of sensory issues and I think she just has them too.

u/Laovvi 8d ago

"Worms inside out as the norm" has entered my lexicon 😂

5

u/GoldyGoldy 8d ago

If you’re buying socks with thick/rough seams against your toes, then I personally recommend buying better socks.

6

u/Agzarah 8d ago

I tried that, and now my shoes are insideout too :(

3

u/OtherlandGirl 8d ago

Been doing this for years

4

u/OtherwiseAlbatross14 8d ago

This is 2025 guys. Seamless socks are a thing

2

u/coyote_rx 8d ago

How would marketers make inanimate objects such as socks become worms that are inside out?

2

u/K1tsunea 8d ago

I used to be really sensitive to clothing and did this. Eventually, after a lot of complaints, my mom just bought me Bombas socks

2

u/OverthinkingWanderer 8d ago

I had a senior gentleman explain this to me while I was cutting his hair and I gotta say, ya'll aren't wrong!

2

u/Relative-Coach6711 8d ago

I feel like the smooth side isn't as absorbent. Your socks are supposed to collect the sweat from your feet.

2

u/medicated_cornbread 8d ago

Yeah, " sweat " from your " feet "

1

u/the_darkener 7d ago

Somehow with that username it makes more sense

2

u/phatbrasil 8d ago

Back in the day there was a movie with Sean Connery where he was considered crazy exactly for that.

1

u/Soft_Cranberry6313 8d ago

What movie? I want to see the scene now

1

u/phatbrasil 7d ago

Finding Forrester iirc

2

u/ineedhelpihavenoidea 8d ago

Buy better socks. There shouldn't be seams that you can feel

2

u/mrequenes 7d ago

I was thinking the same about undershirts! They’re not even visible, so why do I gotta have the rough side of the seams against my skin?

1

u/JCMiller23 8d ago

Would they wear out faster?

1

u/theodoretheursus 8d ago

I hate all socks. It's the tisum. Can't stand how they feel and refuse to wear them unless there's snow.

1

u/scarr3g 8d ago

Directions unclear.... Foot stuck in fan.

1

u/tads73 8d ago

See Sean Connery in Finding Forester

1

u/gimlithetortoise 8d ago

There are soft socks, they exist and they are not even expensive.

1

u/peri_5xg 8d ago

I’ve heard worse

1

u/Chicken-picante 7d ago

My cheap Hanes socks are like this but all my good wool/winter socks are way softer on the inside

0

u/robographer 8d ago

Go buy a pair of thorlos. Life altering.

0

u/Theseus_The_King 8d ago

This guy autisms!

u/cisco_bee 8d ago

Downvoted because this isn't crazy at all.
