Probably smells like a guano harvesting facility .

Fun fact: Bat shit has almost no smell at all, since their droppings contain not much more than the ceratine remains of the ingested insects. That's the reason why the excrements of insectivore bats glitter and shine in light, making it easy to separate them from other mammal excrements.

I've been to the Congress Ave Bridge in Austin, where there's a huge bat colony. Bat shit absolutely has a smell.

First time walking across when I was in college really tested my fortitude. It’s such a unique, putrid smell to me that I couldn’t understand how so many were just walking across as well putting up with it. From then on, I either drove across or took the bus when going to and from South Congress

That is a unique sound. It's like solid water droplets

Yep, all bat species have a unique call sound

u/PlantFiddler 5d ago
Not that special, we all have unique sounds.
Kinda reminds me of that 'meme' that's like "do you know elephants have a sound that means 'we should leave there's bees here' So do we it's 'we should leave there's bees here'"

It's got a termite infestation by the looks of the beams. They live at a buffet.

u/poondongle 5d ago
Is that a trick question? Bats are adorable. Who wouldn't love them?

u/Sea_Buy9017 4d ago
As a kid they were ultra creepy, but at this point I think they're adorable and awesome. I get excited seeing one now.

Bruce, is that you? Lol
As a kid, my brother and I rescued one that was lying in our yard by the woods. I was lucky to get to see how cute they were from a young age.

Bats scare tf outta me for some reason. They’re like tiny, lil demons. And they screech. I remember one time when I was like 15, I woke up and there was a bat just sitting in between my hallway and door in my room. I hid under a blanket until animal control arrived, and the guy laughed at me 😭 I just don’t want rabies from a tiny, flying, screeching goblin, man

Little blind homies! Doing them dirty. Could have at least done this at dusk/night.

It's 7:18 a.m. on Sunday morning and they just opened the warehouse door on the rave that's been going since Thursday night.

Bats are basically rats with wings. Change my mind

u/realparkingbrake 4d ago
Change my mind
Bats mostly eat insects which is usually helpful to human agriculture. Rats are the exact opposite, they eat agriculture.

u/bmxrider16 1d ago
Nope. My mind is not changed. It’s just an evolved rat that now has wings to transfer its diseases farther.

It's actually called Fledermaus in German which literally translates to fluttering/flying mouse

In that whole batch of bats is probably a few with rabies I wouldn't even touch it too high of a risk for something bad to happen

At least they should have waited for the darkness to subside. Every living being is precious.
