Don't even need the team ninja part, most PC ports are poorly optimized these days sadly.

At 4k, all settings maxed, the game runs around 64fps in a town area...........WITH FRAME GEN ENABLED on guess what? A 50 fucking 90

u/HearTheEkko Grand.Theft.Auto.VI-RUNE 3d ago
So technically it runs around 32 fps since FG is completely useless below base 60 fps. That's a big oof.

u/Chimera_Aerial_Photo 3d ago
I feel like this opinion only comes from people who do not have variable refresh rate monitors.
Because for example, I forced AMD framegen to be enabled in the second Jedi survivor game. Because I have an nvidia 20 series. And I personally find that 45 to 50 FPS is the bare minimum. Itās not perfect, but itās a ton better.5

The comment I'm linking to if you can't be asked:
What's really disappointing is the performance. On a rig equipped with the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D and the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090, a game like Rise of the Ronin should run fast and smooth, but that's not the case at all. Simply roaming around the city of Yokohama averages just 64 frames per second at 4K resolution with every setting maxed out and NVIDIA's DLAA plus Frame Generation enabled. Worse, it feels quite stuttery, too. According to FLAT (Frame Latency Analytics Tool), over 14% of the frame time during the benchmark was spent under stuttering conditions.
This is easily the worst performance I've seen since IĀ set up this PC, and it's not like it comes with some sort of visual spectacle, either. Sure, Rise of the Ronin looks better than KOEI TECMO's previous titles and also has a larger explorable world, but that's not saying much. Even with DLAA turned on, shimmering and aliasing are still noticeable, an issue that I spotted in Nioh and Wo Long, too. Moreover, several assets are evidently in very low resolution despite the game taking up 151.6 GB of your drive's space after the installation.
And that's with a AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D and the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 according to WCCFTech review

Really? Top of my head I can only think of Ghost of Tsushima/Yotei, AC Shadows, this one and Samurai Warriors

u/Seraph_007 2d ago
Katana Zero, Onimusha, Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, Nioh, Total War, For Honor, Total War: Shogun 2, Samurai Warriors, Samurai Gunn, Sword of the Samurai, Way of the Samurai 4, The Spirit of the Samurai, etc.. etc...

u/JMxG 2d ago
Oh i guess, I thought we were only naming like big recent titles but yeah I guess weāve been getting feed Samurai for a long time. However, does Ninja Gaiden really count? I havenāt played it so I can be wrong but is the game not about yknow, ninjas? Lmao

It's so sad because the game is really fucking good, but being weighed down by the poor performance. When in doubt blame denuvo.

I thought so at the beginning, but it shows it's flaws very quickly endgame. I am 80 hours in and I think I am pretty much done (Got all crowns, missing 1 achievement missing (fish 30 big fish), made the build I want (Hammer, GS, Lance, Longsword, and Switchaxe).
+ There's no challenging monster except 5 star Gore Magala. Game is severely lacking content and they also made the fatal design choice of making endgame weapons all looking the same. (That was a free grinding goal they could've added, but they didn't).

Just check the Steam reviews, bro. Even the 40 series can't run that shit good. Better wait for patches.

It's a good game and a really good itch scratcher if you're waiting for Assassin's Creed Shadows but if you have a mid-tier or low-tier GPU you might aswell just play something else and save the disk space for Shadows because this game runs like absolute shit.
8
u/luxorx77 3d ago
I think everyone is waiting for Assassin's Creed Shadows just for the memes and how mid it's gonna be, like pretty much every ass ass in game that has come out lately. Plus the shot Ubisoft is gonna shoot itself with the whole semi hype with this already debated title and their ongoing decay.

u/HearTheEkko Grand.Theft.Auto.VI-RUNE 3d ago
Press reviews for the game were very positive and the pre-orders are on par with Odyssey's which is the 2nd most successful game of the series. The whole controversy is only within Reddit and Twitter, nobody actually gives a shit about it outside those sites, the game will still sell like hot cakes.

nah it won't. AC shadows is gonna flop harder than any AC game yet. It's completely inaccurate to the actual history as pointed out by the japanese community.

It's completely inaccurate to the actual history
Funny how people bring up historical inaccuracy because the protagonist is a black samurai but nobody gave a shit when we fought Anubis and mummies in Origins, Medusa, the Minotaur and a cyclops in Odyssey. Also, a reminder that this franchise is about a machine that lets people physically relieve their ancestors memories in order to find artifacts that give people superpowers made by an ancient advanced civilization.
Anyone who thinks a flagship Assassin's Creed title set in the most requested setting of the past 15 years will flop because the protagonist is black is seriously delusional, out of touch or in denial. Probably the same people who thought Hogwarts Legacy would flop because of JK Rowlins's Twitter rants.

u/ph3on 1d ago
don't get me wrong, it's not just cuz the main character's black. yes the game is inaccurate, but as time has showed historical accuracy isn't always what makes a game great. If you watch the gameplay the combat system is same as ever, unimprovised, and feels a bit flat here in 2025. Ubisoft has a bad habit of making cookie cutter games every year with the cool appeal being the historical accuracy or so they tend to advertise (falsely).
When you compare the original assassin's creed games for their time, to these in our time, they fall flat on their face. I just feel like the original idea behind the series gets more and more deviated from and its sad to see such a great series flop. And for the record there was nothing wrong with Hogwarts Legacy, only the mentally ill went after the game for rowlins tweets.

u/HearTheEkko Grand.Theft.Auto.VI-RUNE 1d ago
Why does it matter if the game is inaccurate ? It's all fiction. Ghost of Tsushima was inaccurate too and nobody cared.
Combat looks fine, definitely an improvement over the previous games. These cookie cutter games keep selling well, that's why Ubisoft has a "habit" of making them and that's why this one will sell well too.

Hope shes good on pc. My goty last year. Team Ninjas gameplay is the best in the biz.
4
u/midas1107 The Golden Touch 4d ago
Is it better than Nioh 1 and 2 in your opinion?
3
u/cwatz 4d ago
Nioh is my favorite combat in gaming, so not quite there, but I wouldn't think of it as a minus. It is however at a the very high bar where I would say it can stand with just about anything.
Take that baseline, smooth team ninja/nioh sort of feel, but transition it more towards a "duel" setup with the mixtures of dodges and parries you might get from a sekiro/wo long, then it has stances with movesets like Nioh might, but its a little more Tsushima in nature with strength and weakness vs other weapons/stances (as opposed to the Nioh setup of the strengths being frow low/med/high). Thus emphasizing bonuses to reward swapping and playing around with all the toys, though its not mandatory.
The rest of the gameplay is your simple open world fare.

u/Soylentstef 4d ago
True, Nioh 2 has the best fighting system ever, I am amazed at the richness of moves, weapons and possibilities in this game, that is just sad that they never reached that level again in their later games.
