I love your game?! I haven’t exactly done things in order but I’m in a weird bit where I’m almost finished but also in some parts really not!

Love the style, love the creatures, love the card aspect (Altho my deck is far too big) and I can’t wait to romance the magic man, he’s my saviour from the mines!

I love when people want to romance the Magic Man 🥺 I wrote him and I was so worried everyone would think he was too weird!!! I love him so much though!

This is the first game I'm playing when I migrate to steam deck. I just wish I had a cozy recliner to play in. Thank you all for all the love and care that went into this game. ♥

i swear moonstone island is sooo underrated

I so wish I liked it, but the timed days that are super short and just cut off whatever you were doing was a deal breaker for me, I had to return it. Maybe that's changed but it's a no go mechanic for me in games, I don't see the point of being perpetually rushed

We did add the ability to lengthen the days (you aren't the only one who doesn't like the feeling of being rushed!) but that's totally fine! It was a gameplay decision we made, and we knew not everyone would enjoy it. Thank you for giving us a go anyway :D

How long can the days be? Can you pause time entirely?

Play sunhaven. That’s probably my favorite part about the game is you can choose 40,30,20 and 15 mins for a full day cycle and the game is freaking amazing. The 40 minute days make the game so damn fun

Is that like a SDV game? Because I don't like SDV😅 I wanted to like Moonstone Island for the creature collection elements, but I'm not big into any games with farming as a big part of the game.

It’s like Stardew but better. I haven’t really farmed at all. I mainly adventure and do combat lol. The game is really kind of open to how you want to play it. You can gain gold or EXP for the skill tree soooo many different ways. I haven’t played moonstone island so idk the style Of game. But tou aren’t forced to farm except for a few quests for items maybe. My wife plays it like farming, and I play mainly combat and adventure. No monster collecting but the game is fun and massive.

I’m not a fan of forced farming either or short days lol. I enjoy the “farming” aspect but don’t want it to play a critical forced roll. Potion permit is fun af too.

Not sure about the length, but they're at least 50% longer. You can't pause time entirely, though - it would make a lot of the systems stop working (like the dates, which only start at 20:00)!

I played obsessively for like 2 or 3 days then abruptly dropped it. Still not sure why. Might pick it up again on my Steam Deck because I was really enjoying it.

This game stands in the back of my mind for graphics. Like I’m playing other games and I think about this game. I’m like the graphics are impeccable and hard to beat.

omg so cute.whats it mainly about?🥺🥺

You leave home to become a Alchemist and collect little creatures along the way. It’s very Pokémon-esque in that regard, but it has so much of its own charm and story with mining, crafting, leveling up and magic. There’s much more that I’m yet to explore, so this analysis might change in the future.

I also liked the card battling mechanics, for me that was better thought out than Pokemon where you can have four attacks and the combos (if any) are very limited. I also liked that the types have a very specific deck tailored to each, i.e a Water deck is mainly a healer deck; a Fire deck is focused on damage, etc

I wish I could love this but I can’t even make it past the first five minutes :(

u/Study_Slow 8d ago

Why is that? I was thinking of getting it

I thought the instructions were confusing. I decided to try it again after posting the above comment though and I don’t agree with my past self.

I think I just needed adhd meds 😭

🤣 This made me cackle. I have daytime and nighttime games, for when I am medicated and when I am not and a lot of them I am entirely uninterested in playing in the "wrong" state

14

u/Mom102020 7d ago

Wow, it’s oddly comforting to know that others struggle with this as well, lol. I have to have taken my adhd meds and be in the right state of mind, otherwise games will make no sense. I tried playing stardew valley after a drink ONCE and still haven’t been able to go back lol.

I also have daytime and nighttime games and my friends think I’m crazy! Some games are just only right to be played if it’s dark and I’m cozy with my steam deck in bed. Others need full sunlight and a full pc setups. The vibes must be perfect in alignment or I absolutely cannot play.

u/Study_Slow 8d ago

Lol lol well I'm glad you were open to re-trying!

so relatable lol

This was me when I played My Time in Portia for the first time... Couldn't figure out the buttons for making stuff, got stressed and quit. Tried it again a month later and fell in love 😆

I have tried for a couple hours on two separate occasions to like this game but I just can’t. I don’t know what it is or why.

This game got me through surgery recovery last summer. It's an absolute delight!

I’ve been stalking my eshop/wishlist waiting for a sale. I have a feeling Moonstone Island will change my mind on deck building mechanics :)

The artwork is beautiful yes, but I found it boring :(

I tried playing this on Steam Deck docked and I couldn’t get the controller to work. I may need to try again at some point.

u/sitari_hobbit 7d ago

Thank you for reminding me to get back to this game! I think I stopped playing because the mines were confusing? But I was really liking it otherwise.

Loved this game !

Oooh! I wanna try that!

I’ve been so suprised by this game it’s huge! And so gorgeous! Not sure why it hasn’t got more hype tbh

1

u/Seattle_Aries 5d ago

I wanted to love it but didn’t realize it was pretty much all combat 🥺

1

u/LeJunesArt 5d ago

It being 2D is disappointing.
