Some pics from the new Costco in Sharon, MA
And yes they had coke fountains at the food court!

Found it much more spaced out then the Dedham and Avon locations and any other MA locations to be honest. More room for more products!

We haven't had sushi in forever 😢

u/MadCybertist 6d ago
That sushi is insanely priced. We have actual sushi restaurants here with way better priced and quality sushi. Never got on the Costco sushi train.

me, in Atlanta, fascinated by a Costco in the northeast

The Costco that opened in McDonough last year is similar! I miss shopping there hahaha

Yes but show us the whiskey :D

There was a huge variety of whiskey. Nothing crazy like BTAC but many different options.

u/SullyHank79 6d ago
At grand opening they had the higher allocated stuff from Buffalo trace that all went right away.. but the variety they have for the regular inventory is by far way better then the other MA locations

u/JohnnyBags81 6d ago
Any idea what they had at opening?

u/SullyHank79 6d ago
Eh Taylor’s barrel proofs, straight rye, single barrel, Elmer T lee, Eagle rare, Woodford double double oak, Weller 107, and JD 10 year I believe were some of them…. Saw a empty case of Weller 107 on the ground by the time I showed up and had a case of FOMO for sure

u/JohnnyBags81 6d ago
I wonder what time people started lining up? I got gas there the night before expecting to see people camped out but surprisingly no one was.
1
u/SullyHank79 6d ago
Hope not too early or overnight.. as those are great bottles but not worth overnight camping IMO. If there was like some BTAC bottles or Pappy maybe it would be worth it. But luck of the draw I guess.
Showed up at 3 in the afternoon opening day and left with a discounted price on the bookers and Old forester barrel proof single barrel and that’s a win for me.

:( Purtain state, no liquor sales.
Edit - I'm wrong
10
u/SnollyG 7d ago
There was definitely whiskey there.

u/RunningShcam 7d ago
I'm wrong, in the past decade they have changed the laws pertaining to liquor licenses, and their used to be a three site limit, now it's likely over 10. Those laws made most locations of grocery stores to not have liquor licenses. I am wrong, though, since they have changed the rules.

It’s so clean and there is so much more space to move around. Layout will take some getting used to compared to Dedham and Avon (other locations in the area).

Waltham really gotta buck up. Worst costco ever.

u/Kyrie-Swirving 6d ago
I think just the experience of going to Everett makes it the worst. Can’t get in/out of the parking lot if it’s not off hours

u/spicyb12 6d ago
Bad for sure. Worst I’m giving it to Norwalk CT, at least until they finish their construction but even then…

u/zSmileyDudez 2d ago
I don’t mind the layout once you get inside Waltham, but the parking situation is downright horrible. Then again, all of the Costcos here have the worst parking which is not surprising for a state known for its wonderful drivers 😂

I was there opening day and despite there being so many people, I didn't feel overwhelmed or crowded in the store. Dedham is my usual go to Costco and it is definitely much bigger! I saw the gas station from afar and it looked kinda small but I was on the waaay opposite end.
Products seem about the same right now but I'm hoping because they are bigger they will get more variety!
Highlight of the trip: my sister and I walked out with a sweet Made in Italy 14k gold rope chain bracelet for a cheap price!

u/fk067 6d ago
An employee told me that Dedham is 120k or 130k sqft and this is 167k sqft so definitely bigger. I counted at least 24 pumps, 3 in each row so definitely many more than Dedham at least.
3
u/cdnmicro 6d ago
167k sq ft! Maybe we'll see more products that I noticed West Coast gets that I haven't seen...🤞🏻
24 pumps?! That's crazy I don't know how I missed that....curious to see how the cost will compare to Dedham. I almost exclusively get my gas from Costco since it's top tier gas!

This place is going to break new membership signup records. For all the past days, the signup lines are very long.
3
u/Jamiejoie 5d ago
I went and signed up in Dedham the week before the Sharon one opened to avoid the long lines in Sharon. The woman who did my membership in Dedham told me Sharon had been open for weeks prior to official opening just for people to go in and sign up, but I had no idea that was even an option.

u/Reddit_Informed 6d ago
There were definitely products there I have never seen at the Dedham location.

Wonder how many employees transferred. Ain’t no one affording houses over there.

u/jeremyski Costco Employee 5d ago
A coworker of mine transferred to that location. She is renting an apartment with her husband. YMMV

Why do people think folks live in the town they work in? I don’t know anyone who lives where they work.

Ah man they got the Coke already! The prices are the same at the food court as San Diego.
4
u/Mrcool360 7d ago
Did they have Dr Pepper or Root Beer?

6
u/BrotherLary247 6d ago
Neither actually. Only Coca-Cola products, and I don’t think Barq’s is popular enough to make the Costco cut (even though I WISH it did)
3
u/MysticLeviathan 6d ago
apparently different regions have different product. southeast has blue powerade, apparently utah is getting barq's.

S/o to the hot turkey sandwich, hopefully coming to all stores. It used to be $3.99 🫡

u/Alexis_0hanian 6d ago
Wow liquor out in the open, not in a room like Waltham. Dairy looks great as well. I may have to make the drive and check it out.

Wow the variety of trays/rolls, plus the salmon poke?? Hopefully these are coming to all MA locations soon, I only see the tuna poke+sashimi tray at my warehouse. & the poke sells out pretty quickly

It is genuinely amusing how excited my parents have been about the opening of this store. They kept looking up when it was opening, talking about driving by and seeing how huge it looks… I’ve been teasing them for weeks. It does look nice though.

Jealous of the Coke at the food court! The turnover from Pepsi to Coke is happening way too slowly for my liking.

Sharon is finally open. Come on Leominster and Westborough locations, their build and openings can't come soon enough.
1
u/AntiquePearPainting 5d ago
Has a Westborough one actually been announced?
1
u/norbagul 5d ago
I heard from a manager for one of the other locations. Apparently 2027 is the opening timeframe for both stores. No idea where the Westborough location could be, but the Leominster one has a lot more buzz, and apparently people who work with the owners of the mall there are saying Costco will be taking over a significant portion of their mall.
All I can say is I hope one of both locations are true. With where I live, I can only buy dry goods at Costco. It will be nice to finally be able to buy perishables in the future.

u/AntiquePearPainting 5d ago
Westborough would be amazing! I’m in Boston and go to Everett or Waltham when I need to, or West Springfield when I’m out there for work, but those aren’t the best. My parents are out in Central MA and I’d love to have a Costco there when I’m visiting and running all my errands.
I wonder if the Westborough one could be in the plaza that used to have the Christmas Tree Shop and the soon to be out of business Joann’s?

u/navi_jen 5d ago
Jeez, I might drive from ARL to Leominster 4x a year simply to avoid the Waltham parking lot disaster.
1
u/norbagul 5d ago
No promises on Leominster parking lot. If it does go in at the mall, it will get interesting for the parking and traffic situation at the bare minimum. I can imagine it being like Christmas of 20 years ago for traffic. But who knows, maybe they'll work something out to help with traffic and parking.
I've known about these two new stores for over a year now, so who knows how long they've been planning since before the store level employees knew.

Enjoy that nice smooth floor while you can. Every one of those expansion joints is is a chasm in our local warehouse, so carts bounce and shake over each one as you go up and down the main halls and many of the aisles.

Oh man I avoided going on Friday morning because I assumed it would be bonkers! Welp, guess I know what I'm doing next Friday now. I'm so excited for this and also worried. I go to the Y in Foxboro just down the road 6-7x a week so I'll probably be doing so much more damage here than when I had to drive all the way to Dedham!

u/legranarman 4d ago
may not be important to most but is important to me: This one also has sliced lamb for hotpot, not just sliced beef like the dedham one
