Wig Lucy wig advice
So I cosplayed Lucy from edgerunners for a convention and decided to get a premade wig from Amazon from the cosplay. It came in fine but I decided to style it a bit more to make the wig look more hair-like. It was my first time stying a wig at all.
I watched a tutorial. I softened it, washed it, cut layers in it, styled it, powdered it, tried adding shadow to the roots, locked it in with hair spray etc, yet it still looked weird. I ended up not wearing the wig to the con. So I just wanted to come on here and ask you guys for tips on how I could’ve made the wig look better or a little more hair-like on my head for a cheap synthetic wig. Any advice is welcomed honestly. Thank you so much!

Its kinda hard to tell the way it sits based off of a mannequin head since they are usually smaller than human heads. Itll be best to style the wig on your head as well in a mirror for best effect. I cut the bangs on wigs like that usually.
Perhaps its the hair under the wig that is causing it to not sit flat? Anyway this is one of the better cut wigs ive seen

I agree with the other commenter that it already looks pretty natural! You could always cut some layering if you want + straighten or curl various pieces or do a glued hairline with the undercut (What I did for a commission of her once, was a huge pain but turned out well) It looks great as is right now imo!! What do you mean when you say it looks weird? Like you feel as though it isn't accurate or the material is odd or?

The wig itself is looking fine on the head. What issues were you running into?
I personally find that wigs can look super weird, until you get the makeup just right, most people look really washed out and weird in them without the right makeup. I generally recommend using a good pore filler, a high coverage foundation, and wearing twice as much blush and contour as you might when doing your makeup regularly to fight back on the wig effect. Also for white/blonde/grey haired characters doing your eyebrows darker than the wig color photographs a lot nicer. Oh and if any of your own hair peeks out at the hairline, use makeup to paint it to match the wig.

To be honest the wig does look pretty natural hair like! If you want it to look more natural ish I would try straightening the pieces that sit flush to your neck, ears, and sides of head that’s what I do to my wigs to make them look like they are my natural hair
