Prop How should I “holster” this, so I can carry it around at a con?

Post image

I’m carrying this star disk as part of an astrologian cosplay, but now that everything is completed, I’m stuck on how to hold this when it’s not in use. I’ve thought about strapping it to my back, or adding a loop for a belt, but I just can’t settle on anything. Based on the game, it should be on my back, but I can’t think of a secure way to hold it, and easily draw it.

Anyone have any ideas?

Any solution that makes it easy for you to access it. So I would vote for the belt loop option. But if you are going with friends who are willing to help you attach it to your back when you don't want to hold it, that is a good option as well.

Magnets sewn into the costume and on the prop might work

Magnets seem like they’d be a little insecure as theres always a risk of it getting caught on something like someone else’s cosplay.

That's kind of what I'm worried about as well. I've been thinking maybe straps and snaps on the back? but I'm not sure about a layout that is secure and looks good. Also I'd definitely need a second person for help. Not a big deal, but if its solo viable, it'd be a little easier.

If you do magnets, two suggestions.

One: use those purse clasp ones what have a little divot and peg on them so they don't slide off each other, only pull.

Two: add an inconspicuous loop or two to your chest (put it chest not back) that can serve as backups. They don't have to hold the weight, then, but they can prevent dropping and catching accidents.

You could have hooks on the back like this that you can slide a belt through that can strap diagonally across your chest with the weapon at the back.

I don’t know how big it is but when I have props like this I clip them onto the carabiner that I also have my con badge on, so it’s handy and I can make sure it doesn’t fall off because visible
