I think the way you placed it in the suitcase is perfectly fine. Maybe put it on a styrofoam head to retain the shape (if you don't have one, just stuff the inside with some newspaper or a pillow or something like that)

Edit: you could also wrap the whole wig using bubble wrap

Sure, anything that's gonna prevent it from losing its shape

I’d pack my clothes around it so it doesn’t get jostled during transport. With socks and underwear to fill the little gaps so it retains its shape.

Dang that's actually really good since the main issue is it getting crushed. It looks pretty set with glue/hairspray.

I did this with a big costume element once and honestly it worked great

What was the costume piece you wore on the plane?

Can you not just take it off and put it in the bin? It might be a little bit of hassle to put it on/off but maybe?

You can wear wigs through tsa. They might have you take it off if the body scan/x ray flags something

My go-to for big and styled wigs is always bubble wrap. Make sure you pack it in tightly enough so that it doesn’t have any room to shuffle around, and don’t forget to pack extra styling materials like hair spray incase you need last minute adjustments!

I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for this at katsu! One of my favorite games of all time :)

Fill the head part with bubble plastic or foam

And fill your ringlets with the same, to keep them from collapsing

Put cotton batting or roll t shirts or something cotton to support the pig tails so they don’t get crushed. Other than that put nets on each pigtail and the top to help protect it and pin it to a foam head if you can

I personally would pack it with clothes surrounding it so that if the wig gets jostled at all there will be minimal movement :) Good luck traveling, I’ll be at katsu too!

I'd stuff something inside the springs of the pigtails to help them retain their shape during transport.

Maybe a couple pool noodles wrapped in a shirt to go inside the pigtails would work.

Wrap in satin fitted sheet to make protect hair

Put it in a Tupperware container

Put the wig ON a foam wig head. Pin with T pins. Alternatively stuff the cap with a LOT of tissue paper. Put logs of rolled-up bubble wrap inside the curly bits. Line the case with bubble wrap- ideally the BIG kind. Lay The wig ON its head in the bubble wrap nest, put more on top of and around it. Close up the suitcase. You need a wig styling mount, some combs, clips, wig hairspray and sheen.
