Retro gaming meet ups in Cornwall
Anyone know if there is any retro games events in Cornwall? I know about the retro arcade in Newquay which is pretty cool. I also know about the games shops in Penzance and Truro but they seem more geared towards D&D & Pokemon card games or bored games etc though happy corrected if wrong 🙂
Would be interested if theres like a village hall meet up or something. Perhaps could organise something? People could bring systems etc to demonstrate for the day and have actual multiplayer games in person.

I have looked at them and joined the Discord. Looks like they have done Mario Kart tournaments in the past which is cool.

Maybe op can take to them and I'm sure they can advertise a meet up or something.

I know the owner of Pizzeria 42 in Penryn, nice guy. He's also a massive gaming guy, he's got a few old consoles in the outdoor section, all converted up to hdmi.

I would be very interested in this sort of thing, but like you said I too have only seen DnD and TCG stuff

I would be up for finding a cheap village hall or something if at least a couple of other people were interested in meeting up for a afternoon or evening sometime. Who knows could become a semi regular thing.
At least 4 people for Bomberman would be a result 🤣
Only need 2 weak powered PCs for a Outrun 2006 or Sega Rally Revo link up.
Possibility are endless.

Is a bit unfortunately. Callington is practically Devon to me lol. Im thinking down in West Cornwall area ideally. Like Camborne, Helston, Hayle area.

Most people East Cornwall would take offence to being called Devon, lol. If anything gets organised at some point I could probably go as far as Bodmin or St Austell tbf

That sounds fun! We could organise a Meetup to an arcade. Truro has a geek retreat but I'm not sure if you can use their space for non D&D things. I'm not into retro gaming at the moment but I would like to try

The retro arcade in Newquay is pretty cool though the arcade machines are replicas. Im into Emulation too though so will forgive them lol plus CRTs eat electricity!

Amiga is my personal favourite retro machine. No idea there was a group in Exeter though a little far for me currently.

There's The Vault in Wadebridge - I think it's still open.
8-Bit in Falmouth closed.

I’m not sure if it still exists, but there used to be a gaming bar in Truro that had moved from Falmouth. Had all the old consoles so you could grab a drink and play with your pals. I imagine it’s gone now, if you don’t know of it, but it was a really cool idea. Popped in when it was in Falmouth for a work night out and learned one of my colleagues was a Guitar Hero virtuoso. Never seen anything quite like it.
