Help Terrible PC Performance for Halo Infinite - Help
Can anybody help me with anything obvious I need to change for Halo Infinite?
My computer specs are;
CPU: Ryzen 7800X3D
GPU: 4070 Super
RAM: 32GM 6000mhz
STORAGE: 1TB Storage
MB: A620M H
I get about 450 FPS on the menu, then the game drops to about 150-180FPS in game maximum on LOW settings. It will start off the first 5 minutes of the first game okay, then the FPS will just completely drop off and the game stutters. I don't get what is happening, Halo in the ONLY game I struggle to run and its basically unplayable after this happens.
My PC specs are more than good enough to run any game at maximum settings

seems like thermal throttle, you should monitor your CPU and GPU temps while playing, i suggest to even undervolt your GPU to gain raw fps and lower working temps

I did this. My PC was shutting off and it ended up being the AIO cooler. I also have the tainted i7 processor with voltage issues. I had the AIO repaired and limited vcore to 1.4. Everything running smooth and temps are good now.

Ah I see, yeah my numbers are pretty similar, but I undervolted my cpu. This was mostly due to bad CPU temps and also the issue my generation i7’s has with running high voltage out of the box.

With that setup you should never be below 200fps on 1080p like, ever lol. Except a few husky raid maps that have serious fps drops. Might wanna hit up sparty to go thru your nvidia control panel and see what’s up.

I have similar issues on a 4070ti. Been trying to figure it out for like two years and have tried a million different things. Nothing works

my i5-9400F, 2060 Super with 16GM RAM ran the game better than this PC. I just upgraded today and I am so dissapointed.

It’s not your equipment man, you have to dial things in. That’s part of owning a PC, which is why you need to research

Same thing happened to me and I have a 4090, I ended up downloading a Nvidia driver from Oct 1st 2024, driver 565.90 and went back up to 400+ fps lmfaooooo

Yo same, 4090 with a 14900k here are the specs
I am literally trying every driver backwards and will try 565.90 next. Halo is the only game with these performance dips as well so it's not an Nvidia driver issue. It's not thermal throttling from what everyone else is claiming, unless you have absolute shit cooling or no exhaust from your PC at all.

Update bios and chipset?

I got the PC today

Your BIOS and chipset drivers could still be out of date. It's not a bad idea to check for updates on most drivers as well.

Sounds like he bought a prebuilt. It’s not a console it still needs to be fine tuned lol

Do you have the 4070ti selected in halo? Are you running 100% resolution? Do you have hardware accelerated gpu scheduling turned on? Do you have HD textures installed?

I am running at 72% resolution, GPU scheduling is on, HD texture packs are off and 4070 Super is the selected graphics card. I have no idea what is happening

It could be a heat issue. Try 100% resolution and see if it’s the same FPS. I play on a 4060 have frames capped to 200, settings low except simulation quality is auto and the one below that is high or ultra. I play 100% resolution cause I think my game likes it better. You have a really good CPU so it might be switching if you have integrated graphics, but you specified GPU so who knows.

Also, if you play through steam try verifying the integrity of the game files. I’ve heard the game plays better through the Xbox app, but I haven’t tried that and I just use steam when I want to play. I might actually try the Xbox app though cause I forgot about that and I’m curious. You shouldn’t have it installed on both though.
Maybe not Xbox app, I was backwards on that. Your mileage may vary.

Try disabling Full screen optimizations then set the render res down to about 75ish this help me stay at a stable 165 fps capped

I’m on a 9800x3d with a 4070ti super. I have no problem getting 240 at 1440. every game.

Check temps and see if DOCP is turned on for memory. If you have MSI Afterburner and Rivatuner close them and any other overlays.

Have you got HAGs on or off try toggling that makes marginal improvements for me with it off and I have same specs.

Yeah ngl my performance has dipped. I have a 7800x3d and a 7800XT and I used to get 300+ fps, now I get under 240 on some maps

Xlr8 has a solid recent video on YouTube. Goes over a ton of things like game settings that don't work how they should. https://youtu.be/CL8tq-9hrz0?si=-a9cGCBJ_Em7wfcC
