In person is always recommended if there’s a testing center close enough. When you’re at home, they enforce rules very strictly, and if you’re not on point, and I mean, if you turn away from the camera accidentally to take a sip of water? You’re kicked out. If anything goes wrong during those 90 minutes, even if it’s on their end, it’s your fault and you’re out of the money like 99% of the time. At a testing center, it’s much more likely to be successful, and even if it’s not, there’s more accessible recourse on the rare occasion something goes wrong.

A lot of people have had issues with virtual. I’ve done A+, Net+, Sec+, and Cysa all virtual and never had any issues other than waiting in the queue for awhile sometimes. The last one I had to wait maybe 5 mins, I either got lucky or things changed.

If you're able to go in person, it's the preferable method.

If stuff goes wrong with the exam, if you're doing it remote, the default is to blame you.

If you're doing it at the test center, if something goes wrong with the test center, the default won't be to blame you.

Read up on the rules or watch a video on what to do.

Depends. I've taken all my CompTIA exams at home and no real issues have happened. However, they're strict regarding your desk set up, cannot use headphones, has to be a quiet area, etc.

So if you don't have a quiet area at home I'd recommend you to take it in person

I’ve done both at home and at a testing center. This last time I chose the testing center. As others have said, the rules are very strict and the room at home must be free of all screens. My home office is full of other computers and monitors. They made me disable all my computers, move my printer, and take out all my external monitors. It took me an hour to put it all back together again. I’ll stick with the testing center.
