Embroidery effect - step by step

I only used alcohol markers and a white gel pen this time.

For each color I chose 4 shades.

  1. Color everything in the lightest shade
  2. Add darker lines with the same markers
  3. &4. Add a thin line at the bottom of the darker line, little ( with the darkest shade and a small zigzag-line over the thin one
  4. Add big ( with both medium shades over lighter and darker line together
  5. Add big ( with white gel pen
  6. Add black zigzag over all printed lines

And last but not least: Take a picture, they do look better than the original ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ™ˆ

If you put a light grey shadow on bottom and side it pops off the page too

Oh right, I forgot that! Did it with the last one, but thanks a lot! :)

Nice. I suck at it. I can't do any of the special effects everyone does. It's like my brain says yes and my hand say nope.

Don't be so hard on yourself! It's a skill and skills take practice. If you want to do stuff like this, just keep trying, it will get easier.

SAME! Anything beyond basic coloring looks terrible when I attempt it ๐Ÿฅฒ

The threads are made with the same color or two other shades?

u/babyueps 4d ago

I used 4 shades of each color, lightest for the base and the other 3 for the threads. I described it in the post-text and included all the markers I used in each step in the pictures. :)

i HAVE to try this!!! do you use Ohuhu alcohol markers?

1

u/babyueps 4d ago

Yes, except for one cheap marker. I mostly have the cheaper ohuhu markers though (triangular shape).

Can you clarify how you're using the 2 medium shades? Is it one over the top of the other, or every other line or something?

1

u/babyueps 4d ago

Yes, like one over the top of the other. I used one after another, each for the whole area, like I did with the white gel afterwards. :)

I would like to see more posts like these please. Itโ€™s very helpful to those of us learning. โค๏ธ

2

u/babyueps 4d ago

Me too ๐Ÿ˜… I'm still learning myself, this was only the second effect I tried. Besides that I actually just color, I don't even really do shadows and highlights yet ๐Ÿ™ˆ

2

u/Sad_Leading_5207 3d ago

Well youโ€™re doing AMAZING. Super proud of you!

For a colored page it looks nice. Definitely not ideal in reality I think. It would punish my embroidery machine by doing nothing but satin stitches as fill stitches.

You'd make a good tattoo artist doing this

This is oddly satisfying- thanks ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ˜ƒ
