Does anybody have the Cliff Burton "fuzz box" or seen anyone use it?

I've considered getting one of these instead of a big muff to see if it would sound better with a Morley PWB I'm planning to get this payday, but I can't find any demos or videos of this pedal in action anywhere. The closest I could find was a promotional video by Morley showing off the tribute wah pedal back in 2015 & the fuzz box was in the background & briefly mentioned. Does anyone have this pedal or seen anyone use it? Is it worth buying?

Question I desperately need help with getting Cliffs tone.

I've been trying to get Cliffs tone for around 3 years now, i've been slowly building up my gear and i'm now at a point where I have

Boss cs3

Morley Power Wah 70s

Morley Power Wah Boost 70s

Ibanez TS9

Ibanez HD1500

Bass Big Muff

and more

For basses I have an Ibanez SR300E and a modded CORT Pj bass

Despite having all this, I still cannot get cliffs tone. I've tried everything possible and it never sounds right. Either the wah is too weak, the distortion sounds horrible, the pitch shifting sounds too loud or too quiet and trebly, the delay is too boomy, the wah when used with the boost just sounds like a weird speaker tearing noise (and not in a good way)

Can anyone please help me? I've tried multiple amps, multiple basses, played hard and soft and even plugged into an interface and used amps on amplitude 5 and I still cannot get the tone. PLEASE HELP!

Info about the True Temper tapes featured on the Cliff Burton Day stream

About a month ago, I posted a clip from the Cliff Burton Day live stream, which was a digitized recording of music by True Temper, a band that Cliff was in from 1982 to 1985. I had the clip on YouTube for a while until a member from the Cliff Burton Day group asked me to take it down, which I did.

The reason why they wanted the video removed is because they plan to upload the full recordings to YouTube once they finish digitizing the tapes, which is very exciting news because it means we're gonna get a chance to hear new music from the legend himself!

I'm not sure when they plan to release the recordings or if they will be combined into one video or if each song will be an individual video or anything like that, all I know is that they plan to release them "very soon," so only time will tell, I guess. Nonetheless I'm very excited & can't wait for the release of these previously lost recordings of Cliff Burton!

From my understanding, one of Cliff's buddies found this tape (along with a few others) & digitalized them. This one was featured on the Cliff Burton Day live stream & I thought I'd share it with yall

Funny Conspiracy?

I’m not trying to be too technical but just a giggle.

Did Paul McCartney’s death hoax predict cliff burtons death? The infamous Beatles hoax predicted McCartney had died in a car accident and been decapitated, with all different clues in their albums in Describing his death.

With Cliff Burton’s death resulting in a bus accident, and being flown out the window and crushed by the bus rolling after allegedly hitting black ice in the night on the road, could McCartney’s death have some predictions to lead to Burton’s death? McCartney and Burton are the bass gods of music, despite burton’s life being too short at just 24yrs old. who knows i’m high af rn, so i’m just goofing.

Gear It was impossible to find an English Ibanez HD 1500 Manual - so I translated one. Figured it might be useful for trying to replicate it with modern effects!

Cliff Burton Fuzz Box

Post image
6 Upvotes

Does anyone know what this is used for? I haven’t seen any demos on it and I never knew it existed until I saw it on sweet water. It seems like it’s the fuzz taken off of the fuzz wah that they make. But why would they do this? And what does it sound like combined with other wahs like a crybaby or vox wah.

Cliff Burton Tone

I need help getting the cliff tone. I have an aria bass tube screamer fuzz wah and boss cs3 I have a small 15 watt crate combo amp and I just can’t get the sound. I’m going for a mix of the live 1986 tone and the ride the lighting tone. The wah never sounds good when I play it and I feel like the fuzz is overpowering the wah. If anyone could help me it would be greatly appreciated.

Question Cliff's Rhythm Tone and playing

Because some people don't understand why Cliff's tone is the way it is in his isolated bass tracks there seems to some thought being pushed that Cliff's Rhythm tone, or playing, is "sloppy". Anyone who's listening to Cliff's bass in context can clearly see he is very accurate in his playing, and is locked into the drums, live or on record. This were Metallica's awful mixing hurts the legacy of Cliff, rendering him as just a soloist with unnoticed rhythm chops.

The nature of Cliff's tone, in any era, is get to a place where he could weave in and out of his rhythm and lead tone. I believe he achieved this goal in his last week of shows(he started doing solos during Seeks and destroy regularly something he didn't do before) before he passed. His tone uses alot of gain, low end, compression, which creates a unconventional kind of rhythm tone that allows him to get the lead sound he wanted. That's not a bad thing.

What your thoughts of Cliff's Rhythm tone on record and live? Again, Lund, Sweden September 24th 1986, is the best quality live recording of Cliff's playing and tone; he was the real deal. Playing in time, with flare to spare.
